Last - going to pile up a few as it's felt like one drawn-out festival the last few days:

Friday, left work early to get up to London for the Colour Haze extended blissathon. Saturnia opened, nice hippy-friendly tranced-out stuff, bit early in the evening though! Colour Haze played just under 3 hours I think, oldies, new ones... the sound was lush, the space was big and open and there was 'space' in the set to relax and mill about and talk rather than just focus intently as they played 6 songs then left. Long sets are good. Especially when it's someone like CH at the helm.

Saturday back down to Bristol, couple of hours at a beer festival then on to see OM. Caught the last few minutes of Big Naturals who weren't billed, gutted to miss them as it's always a trip. OM were good, worked much better than in that big 013 room. We stood right up front so had a perfect view of Al inexplicably having a rock diva tantrum and kicking a spotlight and his mic stand off the stage! Anyway, the bass seemed to get fatter and angrier after that so no complaints. Was a bit done in by a cold, hangover, tiredness, spliffs and beer by that point so everything gets pretty vague. Ended up with a couple of days ill off work :-)

Last night saw Gonga and Voivod. Gonga dabble in many scenes and ROCK in all of them, out-spacing spacerockers, out-stonering stoner, out-dooming doomers. They've lost the annoying singer and stripped it back to great powerful sound and good riffs.
Voivod (I'm ashamed to say) were a complete mystery to me, passed-up seeing them at Roadburn (twice? 3 times?) in favour of other more exciting things, but I enjoyed their set. Punky, thrashy, heavy. Bonus points for covering Pink Floyd (Astronomy Domine). New stuff sounded good too. They played over an hour which is pretty impressive in a small hot club for gentlemen of their age! First night of the tour, and they're well up for it.

NEXT show? Diary says either a jungle/breakcore rave Friday next week, or a grind/crust/thrash/hardcore alldayer that day and the next.
Dylan Carlson's playing Bristol the week after that, should check out his solo stuff to get a feel of whether to get a ticket.

Vitus/Sourvein/Weedeater and Yob/Voivod/Neurosis are both monstrous line-ups.

Hope the blokes in Voivod have the stamina for the tour, they were raging last night on the first stop.

Last weekend:

Colour Haze long set, was beautiful
OM in tiny room in small Bristol. Hypnotic.
OM in big room in big London. Rocking.

Next booked:
Neurosis and Godflesh @ KOKOs

There will be some more before then, just not sure what they are yet

Distant: Truckfighters and Trippy Wicked

True say- that YOB, Voivod, Neurosis show sounds monstrous...

Ok, so apparently Biblical Proof UFOs isn't until next week... :/

everything else stands correct, with the exception that I might (hopefully) be seeing more shows in between Vitus and the mighty Neurosis, Yob and Voivod show.

The last show I almost saw was when Witch Mountain rolled into town. Had a good talk with Rob (and to a lesser extent, Nate), and then the wife called me home because one of the kids (Maia, I think) was puking. Shortly after that, I started pouring money into the basement and Kerry broke her ankle, so I've been hideously, awfully home-bound.

Next show will be Milligram, next weekend. Show after that will be Milligram as well. Funny how that works out. Then the Small Stone Showcase.

If you're implying that you're coming to Boston, the answer is "Whatever band you want."

*lewd wink*

But I really wished I could! There's already traveling happening to Portland at the end of the month and then Oakland in mid November for the Neurosis, Yob, Voivod show... And that's a lot already for this little unemployed lady :)

Louis CK was doing a last minute surprise show here and by the time I could finally get to the box office to get the tickets (cash only at the venue) it was already sold out... got so disappointed..

Louis was great, it dipped a bit in the middle - but overall was as good as I expected. That Melvins show was the 15th time I've seen them - its nice how much they come to Grumpys in Minneapolis.

Honestly, over the last 5-6 years I haven't been to many shows... I'm trying to kick it back up a bit. (part of the reason I just joined this message board, hoping to get caught up on good music - I haven't done the board thing since a year or two before SR.com got shut down).

Last night- The Fleshtones, sentimental favorites as they were the first out-of-town touring band that I saw multiple times, they put on a rocking show.

Tonight- Melvins in DC, for which I have a ticket already, then found out Public Image Limited is playing a few streets over an hour and a half earlier, gonna try to see both. Moon Duo is playing a third club too but I don't think it's possible for me to catch all three...
