bridge: Gibson 57 +, Rio Grande BBQ, Dimarzio SD, Gibson P94T

Neck: Gibson 57, Rio Grande Genuine TX, Gibson BB1, Gibson P94R

I can't stress enough how much the Gibson 57s are perfect for the SG.

Bridge: Dimarzio Super Distortion.
Neck: What time is it?
I haven't found "my" neck humbucker yet and change them out pretty regular in an effort to find "that sound" although the Dimarzio PAF Joe that's in my Explorer right now is pretty damn close to what I hear in my head.

I have the GFS Crunchy PATs in both the neck and bridge of my AL-3100. I think the pickup is a knockoff of the Duncan distortion +?

I really like it for the neck pickup sounds great and the bridge sounds O K but it isn't exactly what I am looking for :d

I went on a tear about 4 or 5 years ago and tried a bunch...
BTW, I like a more open, woody tone.
Br: 57 +, BB2, WCR Darkburst, I dig the Dimarzio S.D for a bit of a hotter and thicker tone.
N: 57, BB1, Dimarzio Norton

I also really dig a set of Vintage Vibe HP90's that I have. Best sound Hum sized P90 I've tried.

Interesting. No love for the Duncan JB/59 combo?

The JB/59 combo sounds great in a superstrat or a guitar with a 25.5 scale, but I never got a tone that I liked out of them in a Gibson-like guitar.

Gibson Classic '57's are really good, so are Seymour Duncan JB's. Ironically though, I don't really like humbuckers in series wiring--parallel cuts the volume/ mud so that there's more clarity. You lose some low end, but i've found that alot of pedals and amps get hit hard by humbuckers, to the point where you sometimes can't change the overdriven characteristics of those pedals/ amps, whereas with parallel wiring, there's that much more volume cut so that you're not slamming those things automatically. I have a couple of my guitars on the parallel/ series/ single coil toggle switches, it's amazing how much the tonal characteristics change in the same guitar.

Good shit.

Some more in my list:

Duncan Custom Custom, for the Bridge
Alnico Pro II for the neck

Anyone have them on your guitars?

I use a JB in my aluminum-neck kramer (which only has a bridge pickup) - and this is the guitar I use more than any other.

Definitely the best I have used for that guitar, but in my LP I didn't dig it.

I never cared for the jb/59 in any of my guitars. Compared to a SD, it flat out sucks in my opinion. I play rock. SD all the way for the bridge spot. In the neck I usually put a p90, so not much experience there, other than stock gibson and old (70's) ibanez pickups which have been very good to great.

I just installed a set of Lace Drop n Gains. I have to say, I didn't notice too much difference on my rhythm sounds but a ton of difference when it came to leads. Great all around pickups.

I've just had a calibrated set of memory man bare knuckle pickups installed on my SG standard. Holy Shit!!!!! It now sounds like it should have always. The tone and sustain is stunning.

(I dont work for them, just proper impressed!)

Eventually settled for a set of Lace Dirty Heshers for my flying V that should be here soon as well. So many options!

Interested in your opinion of the Heshers.
Since my last post here, I acquired some MotorCity pickups. I have since found all other pickups inferior.

Motor City Torques in neck and bridge. Haven't wanted to use anything else since I first tried them four or five years ago.

i have a duncan '59 in the neck, and a Pearly Gates neck p/u at the bridge of my SG.
I like it for this guitar.

If I buy the guitar I'm considering, I'll go with whatever I think compliments the guitar the best.
