Robert Plant gave them his approval. He obviously really wants people to stop bothering him about a Led Zeppelin reunion.
^Watching that video... I douche chilled so hard that I got frostbite! Oh well, nothing that a Black Pyramid show this Saturday in Rhode Island can’t cure ;)

Yeah, I'm honestly just not sure what I think of this.

It's not bad, it's redundant and it's obviously goofy as all hell.

Cool cool man, I'll see you next weekend in Providence duder!! It's been far too long....

Trying to read this book (although I can’t comprehend much of it) and it hints at something I believe has been going on for quite some time.

Image

”Second order, associated with the modernity of the Industrial Revolution, where distinctions between representation and reality break down due to the proliferation of mass-reproducible copies of items, turning them into commodities. The commodity's ability to imitate reality threatens to replace the authority of the original version, because the copy is just as "real" as its prototype.”

Remember when it was Wolfmother? I think maybe GVF lean too hard as derivative. A simulacrum of an original that people will accept as though it were original. I can’t get angry because I’m a hypocrite. There are so many bands I listen to that do the same thing!

That's really interesting, for sure. I haven't heard of that book, and you've absolutely peaked my interest.

Perhaps we could chit-chat more about this on Saturday, if you're open to it?

Definitely! I’m reading Glass Bead Game as well and have a similar problem understanding what the fuck is going on! I do love Herman Hesse - Knulp, though. One of my new favorites.

Oh man!! Yup, Magister Ludi/The Glass Bead Game is my second favorite novel, ever, so we'll definitely have a lot to talk about!

Looking forward to seeing youman, it's been too long.

Damocles, good seeing you again last night, as always. Thanks for the home brew, we should chill sometime soon, hit up some cool spots, get Eric and other Andy out and such, talk some literature and music.

LOL

The singer's a bit goofy. Kinda like a watered down Wolfmother actually.

I'd rather listen to Wolfmother, and Plant has always had bad taste in music..

They even ripped off the location where Kirk fought the Gorn! I was waiting the whole video for the Gorn to show up

Although, if I were in a rock band and could film a video where Kirk fought the Gorn, I'm sure I would say "HELL YES!". And if someone told me I could be in a rock band but everything we tried to do wound up sounding exactly like Led Zeppelin, I might be OK with that too

I agree that Wolfmother had a more genuine sound. By miles.
Zeppelin isn't the falsetto scream or the charged blues breakdowns, its the compositions. From the five or six songs I have heard so far, composition is GVF's weakest component.

The only musician I have heard that made music that truly tapped into Zeppelin was Jeff Buckley's album "Grace".

I'd have harsher words for that GVF stuff but those guys are so young. The drummer is what, 19 years old? Put those kids back in a garage for 5 more years. We opened the bottle too early.
