I saw Fistula and Grime in Brussels last week, really great. Can't see anyone being let down by Fistula, they are truly nasty sludge in the grand tradition.

LAST- Desertfest Belgium - GOAT, Pentagram, Uncle Acid, Atomic Bitchwax, La Muerte, Cough, Lonely Kamel, Monkey 3, Yob, Torche, Elder, Colour Haze, Purson, Giobia ETC this past weekend

NEXT- Mondo Drag tonight

Mr Red- despite living in Richmond I have never seen Lamb of God / Burn the Priest play over their 20-year career but gotta say my observation is that Randy Blythe walks the walk, he's always stood by the underground metal around here and appears at shows on the regular. He would jump up and sing 'Monkey Junction' with Weedeater every time they were in town in the early 2000's, he's actually one of the good ones!

I was - actually - a bit. They only played 35 minutes or so. As headliner. A little weak.
Heard some mumbling about "people normally yelling for an encore", but they almost ran off stage and the PA started blasting music instantly. Nobody had a chance.
But hey - the 35 minutes were amazing :D

Last - Desertfest Antwerp. I've been to the previous 2, and this was the best of the lot, and is more to my taste than the UK leg tends to be. Saw loads of good bands, best were My Sleeping Karma, Elder, Color Haze, Torche.

Next - Scorpion Child are passing through my home town, not many bands do.

The Brussels show was short too, the whole event started at 7:15 and was over by 9:30...

Yeah, I'm sold now. I kind of let an embarassing video of him drunk on a tour bus a few years back define the guy for me. And a lot of that press that came out over the guy dying stage diving or whatever overseas a few years back again reminded me of Anselmo crying into a camera after shouting "White Power" earlier in the year. Just kind of seemed like a tool, and he may be, but he is also a pretty good fill-in for Mike IX! :)

LAST - GORGUTS, Intronaut, Brain Tentacles, Burials last Monday. Really killer show. GORGUTS lived up expectation. One of the coolest metal bands on the planet right now.

NEXT - SLEEP on Saturday! Really looking forward to this one.

That Sleep show is gonna rule, Red. I saw HOF last week, and I was floored by how healthy Pike looked. He looked 10 years younger and was really into the show - more so than I've seen him the last few times he's passed through town. Dude's a legend, but it's nice to see him in top form.

Awesome to hear Mr. Pike is back in form! It's not that difficult to be hwp. Just takes a bit of good sense and restraint.

SLEEP show was amazing. Pike just tore shit up.
The Roseland has never sounded better. It's a very tight ship now. I respect that.

Bongzilla/Buzzov*en was rad. Beer and bodies flying everywhere. Just like ye good olde Satyricon tymes ov yore.

No definite plans for NEXT. Might check out Xasthur @ HWM in my hood in December. never really been to a proper "GRYMM 'n Kvullt" BM show before. It might be cool. It might be a laugh.
PDX Opera is presenting Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutti this season and mos def interested in seeing that!

Is it that bad? Thought he "just" had som mental issues. Doesn't sound well.
But amazing that the LOG guy can fill the space - hopefully just temporarily.

He needs a new liver.

Shit, last was really Elder!

Next, hope to see Oozing Wound tomorrow, I was wary of Irony Thrash but gave them a chance last time they came through and they rocked in an entirely genuine way. Running a market all day tomorrow but hopefully that means little one with be wiped out and asleep in time for me to head out to the gig. Sex Swing and Knifeman supporting, I've little time for Kman but SS are supposed to be a good thing.

LAST - The Crazy World of Arthur Brown last night which was a lot of fun. Also since my last post here I've also been to Ash Borer, Mayhem/Inquisition, Aluk Todolo (completely awesome!) and Irata/Freedom Hawk.

NEXT - Might hit Uli Jon Roth, but will it will most likely be the Cavelera brothers performing 'Roots' with Immolation and Full of Hell as openers.

Next - Pissed Jeans record release show. Super excited for this! The new album rules and these guys always put on a great show.

LAST - Hit the benefit for Mike Scheidt last night. Red Fang, DANAVA and Norska played. Danny Carey from TOOL played a YOB and TOOL cover with Norska. Killer cause. I heard from Mike today and he's doing good after his second surgery, which occurred today.

Also since my last post I hit Cavalera brothers playing their 'Roots' album in it's entirety, along with some other classic metal covers. That was a shitload of fun. Immolation was also on the bill and ruled in their own right.

NEXT - Seeing the Meat Puppets tomorrow in the best room in town. Really looking forward to that.
