I haven't seen the first episode yet but I dig the cast. It got pretty good reviews when it aired across the pond.

I've never read this novel, though.
@Arzgarth? I seem to recall you being a Le Carre fan.

I'm in.

The novel took place in the late 90's in a hotel in Switzerland, IIRC. They've brought the story up to the near present and set it in Egypt during the revolution. There's a decent chance that this adaptation will be better than the novel, which I consider one of JlC's lesser works.

First episode hit all the right notes so yeah.

Does the book go into Pine's backstory or do you think we'll get that unveiled through the show? I'm not sure if it was clear if Pine has a connection to the British government outside of his buddy at the Embassy.

Oh hi everyone.

I am a Le Carre fan and I seem to recall this one being one of his stronger later day novels (most of them have been pretty meh). Haven't seen this yet but I have the series on hand. Will check it out.

Checked it out. Very good, even though it hit a lot of the typical notes of a spy movie.

Yeah. The wife and I watched it together and we both liked it, but she had a real problem with Pine hooking up with Roeper's girl. Too predictable, we agreed.

It's not because she wanted Pine to hook up with her?

Seriously, don't we all feel that way?

That may have had something to do with it. She did make several remarks regarding Tom Hiddleston's handsomeness.

"You mean Thor's effeminate brother?" Was the best retort I could come up with.
