That's a nice list, but you are missing two big ones:

YOB: everything is great, but I would get them in this order: The Unreal Never Lived, Clearing the Path To Ascend, The Great Cessation, Catharsis, Atma, The Illusion of Motion. I've yet to really start appreciating Elaborations of Carbon myself. Oh, and add Middian - Age Eternal to that list as well.

Ufomammut: again, everything is great, but it doesn't get any better than Eve in my opinion, so start with that. Then I would get Idolum and Snailking. Oro and Ecate after that.

thanks guyz, great stuff Perrin, wow, in order too, it makes a huge difference, imagine if someone new to Neurosis barreled up to youtube and based their judgement now and forevermore on 30 seconds from Pain of Mind then skipped on to the next band, never to return.

will run those thru the youtube, as usual its the vocals that are the dealbreaker for me. (eg Fu Manchu)

Have a couple of Grief 7"s but man those miserable cunts are even too miserable for a miserable cunt like me

16 are another I have a couple of 7"s of, whats their best lp?

BURNING WITCH + ASVA (the first two) are mandatory. Get the Khanate stuff that followed if you can't get enough of that sound.

think I have most of it, will check out Honky. (actually I had the whole lot for sale in my store back in the 90's but didnt put Honky on, for some reason. Even had enough for a wee Melvins display by the door and who should walk in... King Buzzo! And this was in New Zealand! It was Kevin Rutmanis from the COWS with him that really had my fan boiiing out. Absolutely worshipped the COWS and that goddamned bass tone. Too shy and shocked to say anything to either though (stay cool... stay cool...)

yeah I may have had that one back in the day too

St Vitus, bit too overwrought on the histrionics for me

Bedemen, jeez, what happened there, sounds like it was recorded over the telephone

Khanate, i recall the vocals being a bit too excruciating for me

wow, YOB, UFOMAMMUT, MONOLORD, ASVA, I now need all them but top priority **WARHORSE** wow, what a sound

Get Sloth - The Voice Of God

It's their one album, and it's a killer album of down tuned doom.

great stuff, still working my way thru these on the youth-tube, wow that Sloth sounds good albeit a tad hectic for me maybe.
Eyehategod, had a few 7"s seemed a bit wrenching with the vocals maybe i should give them another extended burl, but damn they had the best shirts...

Zoloft Smile is one of my favorite heavy rock albums....pretty much of all time. That's how much
I like that record. To me, its the band at their prime. It has my favorite riffs and song writing by them. Kind of surprised it wasn't a more popular album. Pretty catchy for sludge.

I'm a fan of Dropout and Blaze of Incompetence as well...but I don't think their more recent Relapse releases have the same hooks as the older material. Not bad, just not as memorable.

if you don't mind a little prog, Fiftywatthead must be checked out.

Fogcutter is another top 10 all time favorite heavy rock record. Sludge plus noise plus a dash of prog

If you're a big Cows fan you'll want to spend some time with most of the MELVINS albums from when Kevin was in the band:
The Maggot
The Bootlicker
Hostile Ambient Takeover
Electroretard
Pigs Of The Roman Empire

for sure. The others in time. Be real careful with Collossus Of Destiny. I love it but boy oh boy do others hate it.

For other sludge Eyehated, Buzzoven, Weedeater, Kylesa, and Torche for sure. Also Black Tusk and the first few Baroness albums.

For doom Earthride, Goatsnake, and anything with Wino.

Maybe a few bands that haven't been mentioned yet:

NIGHTSLUG, Mantar, BeastWars, Brain Oil, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, Keelhaul, Deadbird, Domovoyd, Eagle Twin, Generation of Vipers, Hark and Harvey (fucking!) Milk.

NIGHTSLUG has been kicking my ass. Sounds like a pigfuck of Unsane, EHG and Godflesh: https://nightslug.bandcamp.com/
