People always say the only good Lucifer's Friend LP is their first from 1970,but I disagree. 1976's Mind Exploding also proves they were still very heavy and the songs are as good as the first album imo. Rocked this one on my last radio show and it really blew my mind it's that good.

LOL

Yeah I wondered about that. Guess they didn't have enough money to hire Storm Thorgeson. Actually looks similar to Uriah Heep's Innocent Victim album art which ironically the singer of this band also sang vocals on.

Sounding pretty good. Very busy and reminds me a bit of Sufficiently Breathless. Just bought the 2015 remastered CD version on Repertoire Records. Killer reissue label.

Interesting comparison. John Lawton is a great singer on this. So how does this compare to the first album??? For me the first is the best and this might be their second best offering. The lyrics were way better on the first album as well.

Funny how the early seventies was more about the Hammond organ sound then they all switched to mostly synths by '75.

Didn't Lawton also sing in Uriah Heep?

Yes he did. That's how I found out about him. Despite people saying the albums they did with him aren't good, I do really like the Uriah Heep albums Firefly and Fallen Angel. Big mistake they went for a more commercial sound with him onboard though. Lucifer's Friend + Heep collab should have been way better than what it turned out to be.
