I just recently picked both these cds up. I had had mp3 files of them, but nothing beats haring them on the SHM-cds.

Another underrated band, that, to me, was heavily drug influenced, yet played their music superbably. I really cannot think of anyone like them. If you enjoy a nice stonerish/classic rock sound..then these guys are for you.

Some killer guitar work and interesting vocals & lyrics.

Yeah, that first record is pretty cool. Very unique sound. I didn't even know there was a second one. Gonna have to track it down.

Interestingly, I have learned that Eve is their first album and the self titled came second.

When were they released? Did they have any distro at all in the US? I've heard the name a ton.

What ones?

The Speed Glue & Shinki I bought off of ebay, of an American importer. Expensive, but worth it.

Speed Glue & Shinki first album Eve came out in 1971.

Universal Music reissued the 2 albums at some point. They were signed to Atlantic in Japan don't know if they had US distribution at the time.

"Speed, Glue and Shinki released their debut album Eve in 1971, but immediately split up as Shinki and Kabe couldn't tolerate Smith's personal life. After they disbanded, a large double-LP was independently released by Smith, titled Speed, Glue & Shinki, which was mostly the work of Joey Smith; sampling guitar recordings of Shinki from previous studio work." - Wikipedia

This I never knew. However both cd's are killer. I like the early Jap. rock.

^^That might explain the expansiveness of the second album.

It's a really loose double album like the White album, but nobody is gonna confuse this with the Beatles. Electronic blips buzz hums between drum solos and smooth laid back tasty blues leads. At first this thing seems to be all over the place, but after a couple listens it becomes more cohesive. The album stays the same but my mind seems to be able to grasp better after a few spins. At different points Black Sabbath, The Stooges and Lynyrd Skyrnd all come to mind, but those thoughts come and go and this shouldn't be compared to those bands because that's not what this is about. Fleetwood Mac's Tusk comes to mind as well. Not because anything on this album sounds like that album. Kitchen sink...not really. Some nice blues going on here sometimes. Overall this album is pretty laid back and pretty awesome. Psychedelic blues rock if you prefer. Guitar player and Bass player were in Food Brain before this. I also read somewhere that there were also more guest players on the second album if I recall correctly. - tastelikedirt.com

Ok. Cool.

I also have the SHM discs for Satori/Made In Japan/Make Up.. if you don't have or cannot locate. Plus Strawberry Path's only release. If I could find Too Much for a reasonable price, i'd be allover it to.

Have you heard Food Brain? I have not. Have not heard Strawberry Path either. I'll look around.

I think I have all the Flower Travellin Band stuff and the one Too Much album. I'm a big fan of Flied Egg and Blues Creation as well.

I have that Shinki Chen & His Friends on vinyl. Had no idea he had a second solo album. I'd be interested in hearing that.

Food Brain I have heard of, but not heard. The live Flied Egg album is awesome, and my Blues Creation - Demon & Eleven Children just came in today.

If you have trouble finding Strawberry Path let me know.
