I have always dug the album Just Another Band From L.A. - live with the Flo and Eddie lineup. A review on Amazon is all I need - "Anyone out there who thinks this guy wasn't on drugs is as crazy as he was. All this nut's music was a pile of dung. This stuff makes no sense at all!!!'.

Another vote for Uncle Meat/Burnt Weeny Sandwich/Weasels Ripped My Flesh. Those are probably my 3 favorites. Mainly instrumental and probably his best blending of rock, jazz, blues and classical in my opinion.

Make sure to check out Roxy & Elsewhere.

Can never go wrong with Apostrophe. The "Zappa in New York" live album is pretty good too.

Oh yeah, if you like the Grand Wazoo stuff check out a live release called Imaginary Diseases that came out a few years ago. It's a band Zappa had in 1972 that only did one tour that became known as Petite Wazoo. Excellent rock/big band stuff, most of the songs don't appear on any of his other tapes. Live in Montreal, and Curtis Mayfield was also on the bill!!

I'm quite partial to Them Or Us and Tinseltown Rebellion is a pretty cool live album.

i back everything mentioned and would also add, "Läther"
especially the 3rd disc.
the way tracks 2, 3, & 4, ('titties & beer,' 'the ocean is the ultimate solution' & 'the adventures of Greggery Peccary') go together is just badass!
