Seminal Texas 70's Rock sandwiched between the December 1969 release of Grand Funk Railroad-Grand Funk AKA The Red LP and Closer to Home July 1970. Grand Funk's manager/producer Terry Knight worked the board for this. The roots of Bloodrock date back to the mid-sixties, but the group helped bury the sixties flower power scene with their dark Heavy Psych proto-metal.

Terry Knight not only produced the nine tracks for the Bloodrock LP, he also designed the cover sleeve. Just like the rust belt power charged trio from Michigan at the time, Bloodrock never lets up here. Bloodrock's self-titled Steppenwolf crossed with Deep Purple debut features five songs that break the five minute mark. "Gotta Find a Way" is laced with backmasking near the start of the cut. Spin it backwards at your own risk. The doom-laden "Melvin Laid an Egg" bookends. Back to front killer diller, no filler. This is the soundtrack to every muscle car loaded with 3 hot and ready broads in the back seat wet dream. Rock on, baby! Rock on.

Definitely one of the holy grails!! Every song is great, although personally I kinda dig Bloodrock 3 a little bit more. Lee Pickens is such an underrated guitarist.

And yea really love this backwards message lol....
