The first album after a 7 year break from the early-mid 70s proto heavy prog era.

it's certainly a departure from early King Crimson, especially with Andrian Belew and Tony Levin.
Youtube link is the full album, song by song. Any opinions on this album?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdJU-gDe ... plpp_videoI have this on vinyl and listened to side 1 last night for the first time. It came with a bunch of prog I scored from a guy I work with.
For me, on my single side 1 listen, it's difficult to get into. Certainly easy to see where Les Claypool gets much of his sound. It seems to lack the heft I'd associate with so many heavier outfits that cite them as influences - which is a long list of folks. I should clarify here that I know very little about KC's catalog and I realize it's broad.
That being said, the work that is on this album seems deep from both an orchestration and production point of view. Not surprising for prog I guess.
I didn't find myself raising my fist in the name of rock and roll. It's much more cerebral than that, as I believe was intended.
