The live albums are essential listening - Irish Tour, Live In Europe and Stage Struck - and are decent starting points. As far as studio albums go, Rory Gallagher, Duece and Calling Card are probably the best, some of the later stuff like Blueprint are OK, but better versions of the tunes are on the live albums. Jinx is underated IMO, cos it contains 'East Come Easy Go', which is my favourite tune of his - his playing is very Peter Green-ish.
Taste's 'On The Boards' is also worth getting, as is the recent 'Ghost Blues' documentary DVD.
