1980/ formed in 79 after perry left the quickly sinking aerosmith boat, he quickly put together a band and signed a deal with aerosmiths record label columbia records even using produced jack douglas who produced several aerosmith records. a little better than what aerosmith was putting out at the time and pretty rocking for 1980. sold 250,000 copys in the u.s and did a couple of tours but perry drug problems comtinued and one more lp came out, ive got the rock and roll again the following year. not essential but kinda kool artifact. |

I remember when this came. Liked a few songs. Tried to like it more but couldn't. Had no idea there was a second one. Gonna have to revisit. |

Good album. Damn, my sleep deprived brain can't come up with all the dudes in this, but there was a Ronnie Stewart, David Hull(?) on bass (played with Nugent), and, of course, Joe Perry. My favorites on this one were "Ready On The Firing Line", the title track (which was redone on Done With Mirrors - and it was an improvement - surprisingly), and "Shooting Star" which had a really monster riff to it. |

The singer was called Ralph Mormon if my memory serves me right. His screeching gets on my nerves now and then but still, some pretty decent tunes there. The title track is great and even the attempts at funk aren't half bad. |

Well, they had a better singer (can't remember his name), and the title track is once again great! But other than that my memory eludes me... I mean, I have the album, just haven't played it much I guess. |

Did the Joe Perry Project tapes ever get reissued on CD-tape? You could probably make a killer Aerosmith tape with all the best songs from these, Whitford-St.Holmes and Rock In A Hard Place/Done With Mirrors. |

The one that came out in 2009 was horrible. Got a free copy of it with my subscription to Classic Rock. Couldn't believe how bad it was. Joe sings a few songs on it. He should not be allowed near a microphone. |

I broke this record out after a LONG time and it smokes! Lots of stuff going on and almost alway keeps it interesting. The times it's not busy it seems like the singer ends up in the forefront and you notice that he's annoying, but then they change it up and it gets interesting again. This is grimey stuff like Draw The Line,Combination, Train Kept A Rollin type vibe. It gets a bit funky sometimes. Perry sings a couple songs which are my favoriutes cuz they have some drugged up downer type riffs. Sometimes this reminds me of Ace Frehley. There's an instrumental that might as well be a Hendrix cover. Lots of guitar rockin on this album and it all sounds like it's in the gutter. |

I've never heard these Perry solo joints, although I am a big fan of the track "Let The Music Do The Talking" on "Done With Mirrors". I used to follow the word on the street pretty literally when it came to which albums are worthwhile, but lately I've been moving into choppier waters. There's some great tracks deeper into the 80s. Still stop before "Pump". But I no longer draw the line at "Draw The Line". |

"Ive got the rocks n rolls again" is my fave JPP record. Yes they are on cd now. Guitars are sooooo raunchy.perry and page are probably my fave guitarists. |

I think the Mighty High could do a nice take on "buzz , buzz" , taking it back to its Mohawk jazz roots. I do think this song may have something to do with unh, jazz cigarettes.......that's "bluesy Huey Lewis" please :) |
