Since Dinger's brought up Exodus and Testament, here's another band that's had the rotating lead singer thing. This is the only Anthrax tape that I like. The Joey Belladonna stuff always annoyed me due to his Steve Perry-like yodelling and Scott Ian's whole pro-mosh agenda.

Fistful is not a stone classic like Hell Awaits, HM Maniac or Kill Em All but I do love this tape. (Except for the lame cover of "I'm 18"). The cover is horrible but I like that, too.

OK for you it's Testament, but for me it's Anthrax where I drew the line. I don't know what it was about them, maybe the NY style or whatever, but I could never get into them. OK I liked Among the Living for awhile but I revisited it recently and it didn't age well.

Still love SOD though so go figure.

I must admit that part of it's appeal to me is that I bought it right when it came out in early 1984. By 86 or 87 I was much more selective.

And the S.O.D. tape blows away anything Anthrax ever did, but that's probably a top 10 tape if there ever was one.

For me Anthrax is all about the first two albums, yeah yeah, I know the old school bangers credit Fistful as the only true 'Thrax release but STD was a great transitional point between the speed/trad elements of the debut and the pure mosh angle of Among onwards. I always get a kick out of how much Turbin is STILL milking his time with the band.

EDIT: Spreading is my fav by 'em.

Yeah, Neil Turbin is still pissed about getting the boot. He should form a band with Ron McGovney.

How was that band that Mcgovney made with Katon from Hirax, ever hear anything from them? I think it was called Phantasm.

I was always into State Of Euphoria. It's always one that I grab when I want to listen to Anthrax.
