Power Pop from 1969. Was there a power pop band before this?

Catchy mostly up tempo, British invasion inspired numbers. More than just that...solid record.

There's rockers on here too. There's a bluesy rock out song. There's some smoking guitar playing on a few songs.

This is their second album. Todd Rungren was in this band and wanted to get more experimental. The rest of the band wanted to stick to a pop sound. Rungren left the band after this record was finished.
I thought these guys were from England, but they're from Philadelphia.

Good stuff for fans of early Cheap Trick.

Checked it out not long ago.
Strong Pop/Rock album.
Very solid in both writing and performance, and I really enjoyed it.

If their other records were as good as this one, they probably deserved more credit than they received.

"They shoulda been famous !"

The Nazz are awesome--one of my favorite bands. You can read an article that I wrote about them here. My impression is that Todd Rundgren kind of dismisses that work, like alot of musicians do, when they consider themselves to be naive. Considering that Rundgren took on almost all of the writing and arranging duties, it's doubly impressive. I think that the Nazz were the first to really start the next wave of bands that were too late for the initial Mod invasion, where it was almost a tribute.....which became the first strains of power pop. They were too pop oriented to really be lumped into the garage movement, though they have some appeal--they're on the Nuggets series.

Check out The Move's "Shazam" too if you dig the Nazz....The Move were big influences on Cheap Trick, as well.

Right on, brother.

The Move were a good band with some great moments.
SHAZAM was probably their finest hour. Heavy, very melodic, inventive, whimsical, humorous- a real British classic.

Long live Roy Wood, and may his tribe increase !

Roy Wood is awesome. I'll trot out a huge guilty pleasure here--ELO--loved 'em too, and the later albums were never quite the same without him.
