Can anyone think of any good covers of the old obscure bands and tracks that get talked about here? I am aware of the Sucking The 70's, the Captain Beyond and Blue Cheer tribute albums, and the Aerosmith one with bands like Solace on. The kind of examples I'm talking out are:

Orange Goblin - Freelance Fiend (by Leaf Hound)
Red Fang - Suicide (by Dust)
Colour Haze - Freedom (by Buffalo)
Acid king - Not Fragile (by BTO)
Slough Feg - Dearg Doom (by Horslips)
etc

Cheers!

Firebird does a mint cover of "Four Day Creep" from Humble Pie's live tape. (Humble Pie's version is a re-arrangement of an old blues song).

Iron Maiden covered Stray's "All in Your Mind" from their 1970 debut. They also did Budgie's "I Can't See My Feelings". Both are on their BEST OF B-SIDES outing.

Earthless doing the Groundhogs is a perfect match.

Pride Tiger did a pretty good cover of "Hard Rain Fallin" by Sir Lord Baltimore, complete with vocals by the drummer.

BTO is not an obscure band, but I love Acid King's cover of "Not Fragile". Their cover of "Motorhead" is cool as well.

Seems these bands that have been covered to death, Sir Lord Baltimore, Leaf Hound, Lucifer's Friend and Captain Beyond, I guess that correlates quite well with them being the most re-discovered of the forgotten 70s bands, but are there any more (like Red Fang's Dust cover) by stoner bands of more obscure bands than those?

Alabama Thunderpussy covered Captain Beyond's Can't Feel Nothing on the same split with Orange Goblin where they covered Leaf Hound.
Outskirts of Infinity covered You're Alone Now by Sam Gopal.
Obviously, you all know about Metallica and Soundgarden covering Budgie.

I'm very interested in the results which this thread will bring. VERY.

Since getting the Suma/Maurfahr split, I have been in search of more from Maurfahr. I can find little info about their output online. Do you know what they have released and on what labels?

It was "Master Heartache."
