As mentioned in the RPM thread, yesterday my housemate and I cleaned out the garage.

She had several bins of music gear which became hers from a BF who died in a motorcycle accident a few years back. She didn't have the heart to look through it all, and wanted to get rid of it to help finalize the healing process. So she let me go through it all and said "Please keep whatever you want, I know you will put it to very good use." She is awesome.

So in addition to dozens of useable cables of every sort, I also found:

5 microphones of varying condition (2 SM58's, 1 SM57 and 2 Shure 5565D's)
A Tascam TM-D1000 digital mixer (sans power adapter, temporarily useless)
2 KRK Rokit Powered 8 studio monitors
An unopened promo copy of Pro Tools 3.4 w/instructional video

The studio monitors are awesome. Have not had chance to test mic's and cables. Don't have a Mac so Pro Tools software will have to wait.

What can I use the D1000 mixer for once I locate the required power adapter?

Wondering how much of this stuff I can use for the RPM Challenge...

Nice score!

You can probably contact Tascam for a power supply/cable...

Friend at a big chain music store can track me down the adapter for the Tascam mixer, but he has to special order it. If my gigs fall thru this weekend I may be scrambling to make rent, so $40 adapter may have to wait...

the sm 57 and 58's are a good score, standard studio fair. you can probably toss that version of PT, the current release is 9. 3.4 would be useless

Yeah, googling it saw they were giving out free copies of 3.4 in 1998.

But still.... throw that onto my lady's iMac, or just use GarageBand which is already on it?

depending on the version of pro tools, it might need digidesign hardware to run it, in which case, stick with garage band.
