Trick: Record anything you are hearing on your Windows10 PC. If you can hear it, you can record it.

You need a capable recorder. Audacity 2.1.2 works perfectly for this and it is free and well tested.
You also need the WASABI (actually WASAPI) loopback sound driver which is in Windows 10. May be in 8, not sure..

What you do:
1)Install Audacity straight default install, if you don't have it already.
2)since this WASABI driver is a loopback driver it will feed what you are recording back into what you are hearing on top of the original what you are hearing and build up a huge feedback-n-puke event. Before you record, change the output device in audacity to something that doesn't exist so the audio stream gets trashed silently. You are already monitoring what you will be recording via what you are hearing..like making tapes off of your stereo while you listen to the tunes. you don't have to listen to the tape deck.
3) Select the WASABI driver as the audacity input device and at this point you should be able to hit pause-record and monitor the audio playing on your PC to set any levels that need tweaking and then record.

If you have 1/4" receptacles that are getting tired and the signal cuts out, the odds are that the sleeve contact (TRS or TS, both have the sleeve part) is getting sketchy because the levering over time of plugging in and out actually stretches the metal.

just like a pillar hit in a car wreck, you can't unstretch the metal. the best you can do is cut and fill.

This is the only legit use I can think of for that Crom forsaken antimony solder. just add a little bit just inside the 1/4" jack opening so that your cables plug in solidly again.

try not to over-do it, and if you do, use the soldering iron to remove it. filing makes metal filings which you really don't want inside your electronics.

Ive not measured one with a micrometer yet but was told Monster cable makes oversized plugs to stretch out your jack so only their cable fits right.
