What bass heads/amps would you recommend?
Being that I'm posting on this forum I guess it's pretty obvious what type of music I'm playing. Heavy, fuzzy, downtuned stonermetal/doom/sludge/stoner etc.
I'm not very knowledgeable on amps really. I know Orange (AD200B) is the shit, but they're so f'n expensive here in Sweden. Then we got the Fender Bassman, Ampeg SVT etc.
I'm leaning a bit towards Marshall at the moment, but I don't know what their good bassamps are.
As for cabs I'm looking at a 4x12. So it's gonna be a halfstack.

Any suggestions? All tips are appreciated :)

Nobody can really recommend anything without knowing your budget. You are in Sweden so I'd imagine an EBS wouldn't be a bad idea.

Nah, guess you're right. I'm not sure about my budget, it all depends you know. If it's something I reeeeally want I might pay up quite a bit. But I'd say 10.000SEK (about $1550) is absolutely tops right now

Lots of good amps available for that budget.

In terms of fuzz and dirt, you can always get that from a pedal, so having an amp that sounds naturally dirty isn't always needed. I have a Trace Elliot V6 which is pretty clean by itself but works really well with a fuzz or two. If you can find the Trace Elliot V-Types you might get a bargain. I got mine for £650 and prefer it to Ampeg SVTs I've tried.

The Marshall VBA 400 is a nice amp, but like the Trace Elliot is a 400 watt valve amp. The amp has so much headroom that it is difficult to get much natural tube break up at a usable volume level.

I like the look of the new Fender Bassman series of amps, but haven't tried them. They have an overdrive channel which is always a nice feature.

Best thing to do, is try a few and see what you like.

depending on what cabinet you are using, I might suggest a 120w tube head. a guitar head can work well. I use a Garnet BTO (which is an old Canadian brand) and I as well as well as a lot of other people are in love with my sound. I run it through an ampeg 610. Mind you, we're only kinda loud and there is only one guitar player I have to contend with.

But like an Ampeg V4 or V4B (preferably) even a marshall JCM 800. An Orange of smaller size than the 200 would probably sound awesome. Are OR120's any more attainable? Traynors? can you get those things over there? If so, the YBA-3 Custom Special (the old ones, not sure about the new ones) sound really good. Stay away from the new YBA-200, can't comment on the newer 300.

Aside from that, the SVT is the gold standard. Can't go wrong with one of them.

Then there's always solid state. Bass sounds really good with solid state. Just get up in the 400W RMS range to even think about being loud enough.

Thanks for all your tips! Really appreciate it :) Now I got some more things to look at and consider when the time comes to get a new amp.
