I know the main differences, tell me why you like or dislike the ones you have played and why. Your input may have a direct impact on my drunken impulse buy in a few months.

I dont know what other guitars do you have. Im using a small scale guitar, so the first thing I would notice about a Tele us the long scale, which means better tuning stability and less floppy strings. Now I like natural, saggy pitch shifting, but then again a Tele lacks the warmth of heavier guitars, yet it sparks...

The removable fretboard makes it easier to repair (than a set-neck), yet Im not planing to surf over my guitar. It can be turned into a baritone by changing 4 screws.

Sometimes I want a Tele.

They are kinda fugly, in a beautiful way. Man do they sound good, though. They cut through the mix like a samurai sword and they are fun to play! Better that you get one!

I have a 1976 Tele Custom with a maple neck. It is a real bright sounding guitar, has a great snappy sound. It is a pretty ugly guitar, but has a nice D shaped neck - great to play. The humbucker in the neck position with the custom does mean you can get a heavier darker sound than you do with a standard tele.

Sounds great through my JCM800 half stack, I have mine tuned to C most of the time with 11s on it.
