Is there a way to to take the digital audio feed out of the newer television set and convert it into the classic stereo rca cables and run it through an old school receiver?

That tv should have a left & right rca type analog audio output. Are you already using it for something else?

It looks like that model has an optical audio out (though I would double check your setup) and you can buy an adaptor to convert optical to good old RCA. The pricing seems pretty varied, however. You'll want to do your research to make sure you're getting the right adapter and that the digital to analog conversion is quality.

The unit does not have the old school rca outs for sound (just the optical/ digital out)... so, i will need to look into the adapter idea for sure.

Yeah, the pricing isn't encouraging, but the device does have to do a live digital to analog conversion. It's not as simple as splicing some wire and applying electrical tape.
