You pretty much need a mixing board onstage to do this properly. It's a pain in the ass. To do it right, you'll need a mackie or preferably something better, and a reamp box or a DI with cables to run it backwards so your pedals see the right level and load. If you're still interested I can walk you through it. This all supposes that the sound guy can accept a line level signal from the stage.

to do it right:

mic>mixing board mic in>aux send>reamp or backwards DI>pedalboard>DI>aux return or separate feed to sound man/woman. If you want to control the blend from the stage, send it back into your mixer aux return or another channel on the board. If you want the sound person to have more control, give them the DI. You're going to get more gain before feedback on the clean signal if you give the sound man separate signals, but you won't have control over the blend. You can skip the reamp step in a pinch, but it won't be as thick and clean.

EHX Cathedral Reverb in stereo with the Stereo memory man, running mono to my amp, running (with adapters) mic - cathedral - stereo memory man - to PA. It's raw, and sounds pretty rad if you like the lo-fi. kind of want to dump some kind of dirt in the vocal line, just because. The only time there are vocals, anyways, is when those effects are on, so it works out.

I'll try the most simplest way first with adapters and see what happens. Can I use adapters and just go right into the board? Thanks

yes, you can do that. It works better with some pedals than others. Some are better able to handle line level stuff. My Boss digital space echo works great this way. Guitar pedals really vary.

Yeah, it can work. IMO, the biggest problem is that because you need to use high impedance connections in at least 2 places, it can be noisy.

Even so, Joel from SuperGiant has been using a Boss DD3 or DD4 (can't remember) stompbox on his vocals for years, and he always sounds good.

There are some good vocal effect pedals out there that are already set up for xlr. Digitech, TC Helicon, even Boss make them.

I'm pretty sure Mike from Yob used voice effects on stage.

i spent 30$ on an adapter with a transformer in it that lets me go straight into the pa. It works fine and is all i need for now. Keeping it simple.
