So I got the Zoom H1 pocket recorder a while ago for my birthday back in December.

and I love it. Because despite being dirt cheap, under $100, and having almost no real controls other than mic level and the ability to change recording format (48kbps Mp3 is the lowest quality format it records in and provides like 80 hours of recording time on the included 2 gigs of memory, 96/24 WAV is the highest quality and it provides a little over 2 hours of recording time if my memory serves me correctly) It produces good quality stereo recordings, it is the perfect thing for getting down song ideas with little hassle.

I will put up a few recordings I've done with it soon.

It has 2 microphones in it. The only issue with it has been that the mics are all out in the open and if any air hits them, from a fan or kick drum or vocals being too close they pop horribly but a foam mic condom fixes that easily.

I have one of these. It's pretty sweet. Does what it's supposed to. I had to buy the accessory set with the tripod, wind screen, and mic stand mount. That makes things a little easier.

Exactly DK, it does exactly what it should in a meat and potatoes/no bullshit package.

I'd made another thread about the Zoom H2 that I'm loving. It has slightly more options and comes for pretty cheap too.

It's always in the middle of our rehearsal room doing its thing.

http://bevarsea.bandcamp.com has some of those recordings that came out of it so far.
