please read my link. I know it may seem nitpicky at first but Ive been dicking around with fuzz, overdrive and distortion for some time now and the distinction between the three kinds of effects is extremely important.

Good website FULL of fuzz pedal reviews and videos:
http://bassfuzz.com/

I've spent hours watching/listening/reading this site and still nowhere nearer to finding the fuzz I want.
Currently using a home-brew fuzz but it's slightly lacking in the low end dept. But if I put it through my Behringer BDI-21 which I use to trim off some of the higher fuzz and push the lower... but I'm still not happy....

it's funny how different guitars sound with different pedals, amps, speakers, etc. Seems like you never know how a pedal will really sound until you try em with your own gear. sound clips and videos only tell part of the story.

My pedals sound great with my guitars, but with my thunderbird they sound unbelievably awesome.

for bass fuzz, I really liked Electric Wizards bass tone on Dopethrone and fanatics...that was a sansamp pedal (which of course is not really a fuzz).

same here. that bass tone is so deep and meaty. you can tell it's not fuzz, sounds more like a gnarly overdrive, but good to know what it is

i cannot even recall all of the different fuzzes and distortions ive tried with my bass, but i always find myself ending up using either my Rat distortion or my Rat Juggernaut....the Juggernaut in particular, its got a mix control so you can keep the very deep low end clean with a fuzz top. mmmmmm...creamy.

Mastotron arrived today! Very psyched but haven't been able to set up the rig to test it out properly yet, so I will post my useless impressions soon. All I have to say so far is that IT'S FUCKING SMALL! Not that there's anything wrong with that, or so I have read, etc.

PS: and a good, odd discovery - guitar pedals are specifically exent from paying taxes when getting 'em through the mail in my country. Not sure this is gonna' be such a great thing in the long run for my budget, but fuck if my GAS isn't peaking today.

Been shopping for a bass fuzz for a while now. I had the Wounded Paw Attack Goat. Nice pedal lots good tones and retains the low end, I just got tired of the slight octave up effect, a little too synth for me. Got a Mountainking Electronics Megalith, found it too gated for what I was looking far and too aggressive in the high end. Now I placed an order for an Oxffuzz Bass. Can't wait to try that out. Sounds like what I am looking for, smooth sound with lots of lows and doesn't get overly harsh...The Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie B and the Fuzzrocious Grey Stache are also very tempting.

Mastotron = awesome.
A whoooole lot of fuzz, nicely tweakable and ranges from black metal enraged mosquito swarm to super bassy dense, crushing tones. Tried it very briefly on bass, sounds damn good, but I think it's much more distorted than what I want the bass to sound for "normal" riffing.

Yeah, I think if someone can't get a good sound out of the Mastotron, they should probably just give up--there's so much range from dying battery sounds and beyond. I'd mentioned this earlier in the thread, but as much as I love the Fuzz Factory and it's craziness, the Mastotron rectifies some of the pure chaos of the FF (adding a tone control, more versatility, etc).

I love the dying battery wave knob thingie. Reminds me of the Witch tone when the guitar opens the songs riffing.

I saw Eddie Glass and Shep from Weedeater using the ZVEX FuzzFactory.

I personally don't like fuzzes with too many knobs. Used to go with a black russian Big Muff in the big housing, somehow wasn't that satisfied with it. Now I use a Fulltone Octafuzz which is just perfect.

I love that little pedal.

I am rather jealous....even on the rare occasion I can afford one, there are none to be had.

I use the Skin Pimp FacePlant

which is the first fuzz I have never had a complaint about.

Always stickin' with the NYC muff. My buddy has a sick Red Witch fuzz that is pretty badass.

The Pharoah from Black Arts Toneworks has been absolutely ruling my bass rig lately. Jack Deville's Buzzmaster is amazing, if you can find one. It should be noted that I passionately hate all Big Muffs.

Mine is lying in a drawer saddly (on top of Yngwie and Beastie Boys lol).

My Musket fuzz II simply rules for me.

I use a J. Everman Fuzzdrive to push my amp over the top, adding beefiness on the low end and a nice buzz on the highs.

No love for the MKII Tonebender? For me, it's the only fuzz that I consistently bond with. The Twin Bender from Ramble FX is my weapon of choice, as it has a thick switch that gives it a Muff-like, MASSIVE tone. Plus spitting and sputtering, endless sustain, yadda yadda. Great into a wah for psychedelic sounds!
