Star Theater seems to be gaining momentum.

I haven't been in there yet, but I am curious. The NYE show there is Sizzle Pie's first anniversary show, which they have a "secret band" listed right now along with Rabbits and Lord Dying. Knowing those guys, it could be anybody that's been or is on the Relapse roster. I might just show up that night to see the venue and because I really like Matt. It would be nice if that place would be able to somewhat fill the void of the Satyricon, but it's doubtful knowing who is running it. It's probably just going to be like the Dante's we've all known the last few years, while Dante's itself turns into a cheesy tourist trap Mecca, a la Voodoo Donuts. If it isn't already.

Relapse? Gee, I wonder who you might be referring to.

And yeah, Satyricon shows mostly moved over to Branx and Plan B. So far Star Theater seems like it's catered to shows when Dante's already has the night scheduled. Being that much further away from the burnside drunk crossroads works for me so I think I'll have to go and see how their sound is.

The Star Theater 12/31 gig is, indeed, Red Fang.

Cheesy of them to keep secret like it is some sort of big deal. Oh well.

The venue announced late tonight, so that tells me that they wanted to wait until after tonight's return-to-Portland show to announce. After all, it can be tacky($) to have two shows the same month.

Probably gonna skip it. It'll take more than a local band showcase to get me out of the house on amatuer night/NYE. I guess I'll see the Star Theater eventually.

I am curious to check out the venue also. But I am sure you are foregoing their NYE show because you want to come see the Plan B show that night, correct? Right? Yes? Hmmm?

Actually, if I had my druthers and patience to deal with all the douchebaggery, I'd probably hit the Reverend Horton Heat that night. It's been probably 14 years since I've seen him, but I saw him put on a ton of shit-hot shows back in the day. It's also within semi-falling distance of my bed if need be that night.

Tragedy are great on record, but the time I saw them didn't give me any more thrill than seeing any of the other 20 d-beat local dealios could. Maybe I saw them on a down night? It's pretty rare that they play +21 shows here. I saw them in the all-ages end days of the Satyricon, which was quite a bit different than the pre-2003 shutdown. They might be a lot more fun with a drinking crowd.

Chances are I'm watching Dick Clark and spinning metal right here that night.

Well Stoneburner and Atrocity Exhibition are on the bill, hence my nudging. (but it's cool, I know how it is being all old and responsible and shit)

Tragedy I have only seen once and they were punishingly good, so perhaps it is hit and miss with them, or perhaps it's a matter of venue, etc.
