I got to Pomona late because of a holiday-weekend-beach-traffic-snarl of cars, so I did not see Benediction. It was a long drive and I was a bit down on the event from the start, but when I got my ticket in my hand to finally see Bolt Thrower I was pretty amped.

We watched Autopsy take the stage but I was also grabbing a shirt at the merch area. By the time I had it in my hand I was was over Autopsy. They weren't remarkable in sound or peroformance. Kind of sloppy truth be told. So it was off to the bar awaiting Bolt Thrower.

A short while later their intro music alerted the metal hordes that they were on and I don't know how to accurately describe how astonishingly good they were. They were a machine of death metal delivering an aural assault, pitch perfect and tight. Opening with "IV Crusade" and including "For Victory", "Cenotaph", 'World Eater", "When Cannons Fade", "No Guts, No Glory" and the best tracks from all of their discography.

Jo Bench right out fron banging her head to every breakdown as the entire band submitted to the riff for over an hour. GO SEE THIS TOUR. It was the best performance I have seen in years. It was $22 fvor the ticket and $10 for the shirt. After that performance, I feel like I should write them a letter and tell them that they could charge double for both.

EDIT - A righteous new clip was uploaded today, a clip that encapsulates how awesomely heavy this show was. It is below. (1:28 mark is so fucking awesome)

Just saw them in Portland last night, and I'll just say ditto....start to finish it was non-stop pummeling, ass-kicking, fist-pumping, head-banging metal....nothing short of bad ass and definitely one of the best metal shows I have seen in a long time.

Indeed! The Portland show was a fucking bulldozer of metallic bliss. I'm pretty confident we saw the best BT show of this mini-tour, knowing they played a tent at MDF (where they were cut-off early) and I've been to the venues at Austin, Oakland and Seattle. The show/sound in Portland was completely off the fucking hook. Benediction and Hellshock were really good too, although I feel kind of false for not seeing Hellshock before as I see those guys around all over, but they're at a point of stretching their local gigs WAY out like Tragedy do.

"In a World of Compromise --- Some Don't".... This band from overseas selling doublesided color print tee shirts for $15. Respect.
