A little review from Holland, a pre-Elektrohasch label night show, the release party of The Machines third album, apply titled Drie. Venue; Elektra, Sliedrecht. Drie is an improvement of their second album Solar Corona, more resourcefull, better worked out numbers, more flow and almost 80 minutes long. Were they able to bring the record live? Yes and no. The show proved why Stefan Koglek singed them to his label, long rocking songs and great guitar work. But in the softer parts, the drums were boring and uninventif, also the bass lacked own identity. The record is good, hopefully the live performance goes up in the coming months by touring. A good reference for them is label mates Sungrazer. From the start of their set there was more body in the music, more experience in bringing your numbers to a stage. They played old and new songs. The new songs were pretty killer, the second album is something to look out for in the coming months. I didn't stay for the whole set, in three weeks they play with Colour Haze in the roudburn venue in Tilburg. |
