The story is presently a little over midway into the second season. As it goes on, it's becoming apparent to me that this is a second rate knock-off of 'The Sopranos'. After the first season, I said the Jon Voight/father figure character the main reason to watch the show, but now I'm thinking he is the ONLY good/original thing the show has going for it.

That said, even a Sopranos knock-off is better than most TV, so I'll keep watching. It's just frustrating to watch a show with real potential fuck the dog.

Is it just me or does this seem to be the pattern with Showtime shows? Seems like they're good until they're really not. I remember the first season of "Huff" was really good only to quit watching in the middle of season 2.

I'm kind of new to having Showtime, but I thought Homeland had promise but became laughably bad by the end of it's first season. It came with a lot of accolades as well, which was puzzling to me. That and Ray Donovan are the only Showtime series I've managed to watch so far.

There isn't a whole lot to watch on Showtime, sadly. The best show they have right now is, by far, Masters of Sex. But it's not "good for a Showtime show". It's a legitimately good show.

The second half of the second season of this rebounded a bit, but it is still only the Mickey/Voight thread that surprises/pays off. The most of the rest of it is pretty predictable. Giving the second season a B-/C+ type of grade.

I'm getting Showtime for $2/month for the next two years, so I'll have to give Masters of Sex a try.
