The little bumfuck town I live in still has a drive-in. Last year they won a contest from toyota? or some shit to get a free digital projection system, essentially keeping them alive to keep showing movies.
Every year, at the end of the season, they do theme weekends. The "big" draw the last couple of years is the horror weekend. They show 3 or so movies, have a person somewhat associated show up... blah blah blah. Last year we got Fulci's Zombi (and Monster Squad, which is badass), which made for a sweet night.

This year they will have the ONLY drive-in showing for the 40th anniversary of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Fuck. Yeah.

Yeah, man where is it? That sounds awesome.

Not a drive in, but a local theater here screens movies for the local movie society, and a few weeks ago I got to see A Clockwork Orange up on the big screen. Pretty fantastic.

That sounds awesome.

One of my favourite childhood memories is seeing a double at the drive in way back in 79: Battlestar Galactica (the telemovie) with Earthquake.

I also distinguished myself at the drive in (which I can just about see from my upstairs) when I was on a date. We were watching the movie when suddenly a hunstmen spider appeared on the windscreen. I reacted like any manly man would - I screamed and jumped out of the car, leaving my date inside. Turned out the spider was on the outside. Luckily she saw the funny side and we're still married today.
