Fave films from the era/points of references:
Alucarda
Let's Scare Jessica to Death
The Brotherhood of Satan
The Blood on Satan's Claw
Don't Deliver Us from Evil
The Exorcist
The Devils
The Satanic Rites of Dracula
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie

Atmospheric 'n Doomy type flims most. If Electric Wizard has already or might sample it in the future, i'll prolly dig it.
Quite a few knowledgeable film heads here. Please advise.

Try "The Iron Rose" by Jean Rollin. Its a subdued piece, but it has incredible atmosphere.

The Iron Rose was surprisingly not too bad, as I'm not much of a fan of Rollins' work.

For loads of atmosphere and some cool visuals, check out the Blind Dead series. Just don't expect much in the way of plot, or logic, or even good special effects.

Sergio Martino's "Torso" ranks pretty high in my house, not as horror, but as a Giallo.
