A loving and exhaustive documentary that every band probably wishes they could have made about themselves and their music. And Rush are the hard rock stalwarts who deserve the attention. This documentary breaks down the music and personal journeys of every stage of the band's career. Its also peppered with fellow musical greats praising these three brilliant canadiens (Jack Black repeatedly puts forth hilarious perspective on them). Even a passing fan of Rush will find a lot to enjoy in this film. Check it out.

Its on Netflix Instant.

Yeah, that's a great documentary. Even if you're not all that into Rush, efter this one, you probably will be. It really gives you a good perspective on them. Plus it's entertaining as hell.

I love it as a Rush nerd, but it's also a really good documentary.

I watched this a while ago with my roommate, it was good to see them get a nice retrospective. I liked the part in the end where they give a little love to the Rush nerds. "There's a certain...type of fan..."

I like the footage at the very end, during the credits where they are getting loaded after having dinner in a restaurant. I was married at the restaurant they are dining at. Its the Saddlepeak Lodge.

I love when Geddy and Alex play Caress of Steel (my favorite album) for the first time in their tour van for Paul and Gene of Kiss who immediately don't like it.
Kind of exhibits why I never liked kiss.

Not a Rush fan, really enjoyed the movie. Very well done.

Yeah, this is really well done. I'm not really a fan, but I've been surrounded by Rush mega-nerds for a very long time now, and this probably did more for my appreciation of the band than any of my buddies ever has.

Great documentary. Forgot about the post-credits drinking scene. Need to follow up on that.

The dinner scene is the best five or six minutes of the whole thing.

As a RUSH fan, I really dug it and appreciated it being made, but I have a tough time seeing what a non-fan would get out of it. A historical view of three down-to-earth, well-adjusted guys plodding along putting out the most influential/commercial prog-rock in the history of rock music. The only conflicts in the whole thing were when their record company had their backs to the wall on '2112' and then Neil's tragedies of the later 90's. They're such great guys, you end up rooting for them, but overall it's kind of a boring story for a non-nerd.

I'd like to see similar no-holds-barred docs made around Sabbath, KISS, Motorhead (the Lemmy movie was a bit of a fluff-piece), JUDAS PRIEST (would be amazing if Halford wasn't playing his "Metal God" character). Tons more bands actually. I think that Sam Dunn asked Sabbath if they'd want him to archive their career similarly, but they declined. I might be wrong on that though.
