Watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes the other day. Not bad if you can bring yourself to tolerate James Franco (70/30 chance you can't, because he's awful). Anyone else seen it?

I agree, the soundtrack was amazing too. They should make a live action Transformers movie... How badass would that be?

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

No worries dude, I basically just wanted to say James Franco is awful. Transformers discussion is certainly cool by me.

I don't mind James Franco, but it seems like I'm having to apologize for him more than I should. I've seen him be good in movies, but maybe it was just the movies that were good and he was in them. Kind of like Tom Cruise in a Few Good Men.

I don't know, man. 127 Hours is a hell of a performance by him, I think.

That said, he's been in some of the worst movies I can think of like, for instance, Pineapple Express. I think he's a good actor with decent range and, by that, I mean he's not always just James Franco. He can kind of transform himself a bit. In any event, certainly not as bad as some actors I've seen that are more highly revered than he by critics, fans, etc.

WTF. Pineapple express was AWESOME. I love Franco in that, most because when I was 17 I WAS that guy. :|

Will you at least concede that danny mcbride is the shakespeare of our generation? lol

Whatev. I'm glad we have stoner films like that, and at all, you know? They're for us man, just be happy they exist for solely our enjoyment. That's how I feel about it anyways. I respect your opinion and humbly disagree.

Plus I'm seeing Pentagram in 6 days, so I don't really care all that much what the interwebz thinks of a stupid stoner movie, come to think of it. See y'all at le poisson rouge on the 21st!

I dug Pineapple Express.

I did not dig Rise of the Planet of the Apes at all. Waste of my $6, imo.

Dude, how does it only cost $6 to see a movie in Denver? I thought Colorado had one of the highest standards of living in the country.

I think Colorado is very affordable...especially moving here from the northeast.

As for the movie...I went to the matinee which is why it was so cheap.

Ah, there you go then. I guess it's a good thing you got the cheaper price if you didn't like the movie. Way to play it cautious on the investment.

Wasn't playing it cautious...just went at the only time I had available to me. That it was the matinee worked out well for me and, yeah, glad I only wasted $6 on it rather than the full price.

The trailers of this movie made me want to check it out, but based upon this thread, TV is really the new movies(?).
