Just finished watching this week's episode, and I kind of feel like the show was telling me it wants to break up. Or maybe like it's breaking up with itself? Anyone else see it?

Fucked up ending, but I do think a single Randy Marsh could be a shit-ton of laughs. Guess we'll see what happens next week.

That was the last episode until the fall.

Matt and Trey have been unhappy with doing the show for a while now. I think it was Trey that referred to South Park as "a job" in an interview for Book of Mormon. If this were the last episode of the fall set I would say it was the final episode of the series. The past couple of seasons have had their moments, but the consistent quality hasn't been there. They're more interested in other projects like Book of Mormon, which is their primary focus right now. I can't confirm it, but I've heard that they were still working on the Human CentiPad episode the day it aired.

I see two outcomes from this episode. The first is that they start experimenting heavily with the show in its final episodes and the experimentation either bombs or re-energizes the creativity and desire to work on the show. The other is that the characters forget about the episode's events like Sharon said and the fall continues in the usual manner.

This season was terrible.
Like they were terrible on purpose.

M & T downplayed the whole thing on the Daily Show last week. They'll return as usual in the fall.

I didn't realize that was the last episode of the season until I got back to this thread. Talked to a buddy about it though and he thinks that their contract with Comedy Central is up after the episodes in the fall. Maybe it's a bargaining tactic?

Maybe. It was funny how they downplayed the whole thing on the Daily Show though. A little bit of damage-control, I thought. "No, no, it's okay. We still love South Park."
