The HBO movie with an ensemble cast. Saw it last night. It's pretty good. It's really dramatic and has a really bleak view on the system. Which, of course, it IS bleak.

Anyone else catch this?

No, but I've been meaning to read the book. Maybe I'll save myself the time and money and just see this instead. I've been told the book doesn't really provide insight or analysis, and that it reads like a plot driven novel.

I haven't read the book, but after seeing the movie; the remark of a "plot driven novel" seems valid.

Matt Taibbi's book Griftopia has some useful irreverent analysis of the situation. He uses hyperbolic humor, but it makes for an entertaining read.

But the movie is good. Even heart pounding in a lot of scenes. HBO's current trend of movies-based-off-of-current-events seems to be working well for them.

DVR'd it the other night...aside from obvious concerns about Bill Pullman, I'm pretty stoked to see it...

^^ He's actually not that bad. That may be because he's either not in it for very long or is surrounded by other good people to hide his general badness (a la Bill Paxton in Big Love).

Oh, the terrible Bills.

Oh, the terrible Bills.

The only movie I ever saw with Bill Paxton that was really good in was Frailty.

I don't think I could watch this movie it would infuriate me a little too much. I'll save my anger for when the system fails again and we enter Great Depression Redux.
