they should make one with arnold as a wise, but strong king. that's what they implied at the end of "the desroyer". what i got from that trailer was cheap nockoff of a once great movie. looked, sounded an smelled like shit [the trailer, that is].

You do realize that Conan existed before Arnold Schwarzenegger, right? That this is not a remake, but another adaption, right?

I'm tired of people acting like Conan The Barbarian was the first time Conan ever appeared, and that Arnold Schwarzenegger was ever fit to play the character, or that he could ever act.

I'm not saying this is good, but I'm sick of this treatment of Conan The Barbarian as if it's perfect and sacrosanct. It's not. It's an adaption, just like this movie, and to act as if no one else should ever touch Conan is fucking retarded.

You can easily look at the first 'Lord Of The Rings' movie that used rotoscoping. Where would we be at if nobody wanted to make a better version. Or the original 'Punisher' with Dolph and compare that to the one with Ray Stevenson (I'm leaving out Thomas Jane version because it sucked balls).

And like I said before... This is a "teaser", not a proper trailer. Looking at the Frazetta style posters and set pics/screenshots, this looks to be a real attempt at making a "proper" Conan film.

I watched the Thor trailer yesterday and I just watched the Conan trailer now.... I don't know that I could tell the difference, except that one dude is blonde and one dude is oily black haired; they are both produced with the same "gun metal" camera filter.

Getting a look at the setting is nice finally. Seems like the movie is going to be better than that trailer though. That trailer sucked balls but the movie seems to me like it would be better than the Schwarzenegger one's.

Can't take a trailer seriously that uses the "Wilhelm scream" three times in 60sec.

Honestly, I think I'd rather go back to playing Age of Conan than go see this. However, I will admit that I do have more faith in the actor playing Conan after seeing him in GoT.

Speaking of, Age of Conan went free to play within the last week or so.

I think this movie is going to be a block buster, Conan is right
representation of the that age. In My opinion this part will be better than the last one.

No knock on Khal Drogo dude...he's good in the HBO show and I have no problem with him as Conan, but I wanted something a little bit more raw....not Pathfinder 2.

I'm as guilty as most who sigh when they hear of the continuing onslaught of remakes that keep coming out of Hollywood, but Jam stood fast on this one..I'm starting to buy into this one. The more I see, the more I like. I think singling out sequences is sealing the deal, rather than the quit edit trailers.

On another front..just watched The Thing prequel trailer, as it's been labeled, but from the trailer it looked like an near scene for scene remake of Carpenter's version. I'm confused over that one...

I stand fast on giving it the benefit of the doubt. I'm not sure it's going to be good, but I'm not letting the way a trailer is cut get in the way of things that point to it not being horrible.

It might suck, I don't know. I am perfectly willing to accept it might suck, but many things seem to point to it not sucking. The casting, and even a few of the settings seem to fit more in with what Conan was about than Milius's Conan did, this has a wider scope to it.

Milius's Conan was a great fantasy film, I'm just not sure it was a movie about Robert E Howard's Conan. I have been able to separate the two. And I like them both. Nothing undoes that movie, it is not gone, you can still love it, I can still love it.

But having read some of the Howard stories and many comics that were more faithful to the original, Conan had more character than Arnold put into him, he had more humor, he was more haunted at the same time. He was just more than Arnold could put across.

And they get his childhood right here, the child slave thing always bothered me, that guy would have been almost feral after years of no human contact other than slave drivers, he wouldn't have been at all a normal human psychologically. He would've had physical issues, and he would have been extremely mentally off after ten plus years of repetitive labor in that situation. It looked cool, but would make for an entirely different person than Conan was, even in the context of the movie it didn't make sense. You do that to a child, he grows up into a lunatic, not Conan.
