Is there a more perfect album than YOB’s “Clearing The Path to Ascend”?

No. No there is not.

Thank you.

Yeah got into that a bit more on this sitting. Maybe it's the fever but had tears in my eyes through In The Blood, strong opener. Followed up with one of those brutal Yob-as-thrash-band pummelers, fierce stuff.
Think I must have spaced out through much of Unmask the Spectre, didn't leave a coherent impression, there's quite a lot to concentrate on.
Marrow - controversially I thought it was pretty weak the first pass at this album. Appreciated it somewhat more today, but don't get the adulation. Heavy ballad, works in its way, would rather have a ball of lead footdragger like the first track. Also not my favourite of the Yob heavy ballad catalogue.

Solid fucking album.

I had similar feelings when I first listened to it in 2014. I probably wasn’t in the right head space for YOB’s brand at that moment.

But something made me take another listen recently and it just clicked. There is not a single moment on this album I don’t like. And maybe I’ve reached the ballad loving stage of my life, but I could listen to Marrow on repeat all day.
