I guess someone could make a case for Amon Düül, or even Ash Ra Tempel. For me it’s Popol Vuh. There are things guitarist Danny Fichelscher does that I’ve never heard another guitarist do.
I wish I could write an album review for Das Hohelied Salomos [1974]. I know I would sound like Ralphie from ‘A Christmas Story’ waxing poetic about a red rider B.B. gun, though.

Can. I even dig their mid/late '70's attempts at Ambient, Afro-Cuban, Funk, Jazz Fusion, Burundi and Disco. Something so organically cracked mosaic genius about this band. In the same way as Tom Waits, Frank Zappa/The Mothers, Dr. John, Jerry Garcia/Grateful Dead & Lowell George/Little Feat.

CAN drummer Jaki Liebzeit and bassist/producer/mad scientist Holger Czukay were always their secret weapons. An exceptionally versatile rhythm section that can swing for days and days in any genre, any groove.

Jaki Liebzeit and Holger Czukay hooked up with Jah Wobble for an amazing LP of mental dub plates in 1982 called Full Circle. Essential listening.

Amon Duul II here for sure as tops, and you know I also dig the hell out of some Popol Vuh.

I've been listening to some later Ash Ra Tempel, and while it's not as freaky zonked out, it's still magical.

I loves me some Brainticket as well.

12 studio LPs in 10 years. All good to brilliant in quality. No other band from the era can touch that mark.

Found some time to give this band a full album listen. It’s a solid effort with every track offering something unique.

I’ve never heard jazz drumming support a folk-type song before.

So damn funky while retaining all the hallmarks of the unimpeachable CAN.
