Me? Still kinda on the fence. Def not something i'd buy, but i enjoy the youtoob viddies for a laugh. Anyway is this the future of METAL as we know it? Will hipster irony finallly crush all that is TR00)) and HOLY? Or just a J-Pop blip on the Metal screen?

Listened to it...laughed my f-ing ass off...then felt a little uncomfortable...put on High On Fire to cleanse my infected ears...putting the experience behind me.

I'm still not sure what baby metal is. I thought it was a genre, but apparently it's a band. I figured it was something along the lines of crabcore or those novelty metal bands that had dogs and parrots on vocals. If that's not the case, I might stick with my idea...electronically manipulated infant sounds, sort of an Author and Punisher for child molesters.

Maybe sometimes ignorance is okay.

I worked on the BabyMetal show in NYC last year. The audience was mostly kids 8-15, some hipsters and a few unhappy metalheads who must not have done their research. A couple of my friends asked for guest list just out of sheer curiosity. Its really interesting for 10 minutes and the band is great (albeit locked in to ProTools). It's too cute, so it ain't metal. And its clearly not targeted at the metal community.

I think its a metal gateway fad like Evenesance or Dragonforce.. they'll be hip for a bit, then kinda fade away..

So it's basically Swedish death metal with Japanese dancing girls. This doesn't seem that revolutionary. Why didn't Darkest Hour or Arsis think of this?

This cabaret act is not worth a fart in a windstorm, never mind a shitstorm...

I live in Japan and f'ing hate this kind of stuff. There are a million bands over here just trying to find a novelty niche. This is just another idol girl group put together by some old pervy business man, trying to find a new way to make the same old Yen.

Can't say the backing band doesn't have some killer chops. I think that's what really seals the dealio to the already converted "Metal Community" in the end. If it's a gateway band to better/more sincere stuff for newbies, then cool. I can support it that a way.

I have absolutely no problem with Babymetal except that I imagine their audience contains a disproportionate amount of receding-hairlined white dudes with a lot of #Gamergate retweets on their Twitter feeds.

I mean I’d rather my daughter listened to girls singing about chocolate over blast beats than say Shawn Mendes or even the Frozen soundtrack. But at her current stage of development she strongly prefers Aretha Franklin and Etta James to anything hessian AND/OR Disney Radio. Fine by me.
