I'm flying in from CO to LA and driving up with the immortal Crutch. Any Obbies (are we calling ourselves this yet?) planning on attending? IF not why not and since when?
How was it?
I saw some reviews. It sounds like it was a KILLER time. I knew quite a few people that went the night VHOL and SLEEP played.
I didn't go because I've seen NEUROSIS around 30 times. Was this in Great American? If so, I've probably seen them there three times. They did dust off some stuff I've never seen them play though off of the first three albums, which would have been awesome, but my Spring and Summer months are pretty booked up, so I couldn't swing this. In fact, work-wise, April is the most difficult month for me to swing stuff like this.
It was at the Regency Ballroom. Nice enough venue. We only went to the first two nights so we got a different set from Neurosis each night. Due to lack of hydration/over abundance of libations, I actually fainted during the first night. Got a free gatorade out of the deal.
Highlights:
-Pain of Main followed by To What End was awesome.
-Finally got to see Through Silver in Blood played
-I don't think they've ever played No river to take me home, so it was nice that they were dusting off some of the more unplayed contemporary stuff and not just the older stuff that haven't played in ages
-Great vibe around the whole show. Like a high school reunion that I was crashing.
VHOL and Sleep were great. Haven't seen Shellac since high school (the first time I saw Neurosis) so that was great.
As a Neurosis zealot, it was everything I wanted and more.
