I started Thursday @ 12:30 PM and caught Greenbeard, packed it in Sunday Night after Witch Mountain. You were guaranteed to miss more than you saw. There were some traffic jams trying to see a couple things I wanted to see, like Boris and everyone wanted to see Midnight at the pool.
Was cool getting my brains blown out by Place to Bury Strangers at 4 in the afternoon or stroll outside and see Zombie close to midnight.
Toughest choice was Beelzebong playing at the same time as Bong ripper, went with the Poles.
Please keep posting memories, this deserves a thread.

That's a terrible like-for-like clash.

Saw lots of great bands, was especially blown away by Arthur Brown. Other highlights were Elder, Mudhoney, sub rosa, Yob, Fu Manchu, BOC, Mondo Drag (in spite of rare sound problems), Lumerians, And Mars Red Sky. Was super bummed about Colour Haze, but did dig Boris, who I probably would have missed.

Acid Witch was mind blowing but that fucking pool stage was a pain in the dick to get to. Especially for a weed vapor like myself.

You all that went are lucky because this thing will probably be a lot more crowded here on out due to the universal good reviews it has gotten. They probably won't need to throw money a big money, big production act like Alice again because it sounds like he drew less people than some of the heavier bands (E-Wiz, SLEEP, Boris).

I'll probably go in 2017 regardless. Going to Migration Fest and seeing SWANS one extra time was the right call for me this year though.

Pretty accurate, I think. I bet that Sleep could headline next year and they will sell more tickets. I'm still shocked at how well this thing worked out.

I was fortunate enough to catch both Psycho and Migratation. Both were super fun and I would return to both if circumstances permit it. If I had to choose one to return to in 2017 it would be Migration, hands down. Psycho felt like a bigger, tacky, fun-as-hell American rip off of Roadburn. Migration was something special.

There were a few bands there that had dismal attendance. Drive Like Jehu played the biggest room and it was maybe 15% full.

Drive like Jehu was a highlight and a breath of fresh air, don't know where everyone else was, but attendance was much improved by the end.
I thought Acid Witch was amazing as well.
The photo's are amazing, don't know how you got both Acid King and Blue Oyster Cult since I think they were on at the same time. BOC played Cities on Flame!

Awesome pics.

In retrospect I probably would have enjoyed Drive Like Jehu more than Shroud Eater at Vinyl, who were a bit monotonous. Was back in the Joint for a short Posehn standup set, then at the pool for the thankfully delayed Zombi set, one of the Friday highlights and the only set at the pool that I saw in full.

DLJ was pretty sparsely attended but i thought they sounded good. it was nice to see a broader lineup, as compared to Psycho CA. I was bummed to have missed the entire Zombi set, but Arthur Brown was a pretty cool and unique show.

Hey - I bet it will be crowded next year, this year was nice with the room to move about a bit.

Huh, I wouldn't have expected that. Migration didn't seem that special in comparison to the Emissions or SHOD fests I went to back in the day. The whole alcohol segregation was a pain the balls and I don't drink nowhere near the amounts I used to (usually). It was definitely a WEED fest with the lack of alcohol and lethargic/quiet audiences. We've turned a corner and I guess I'm glad I was part of the generation when alcohol, rowdiness and live music all went together. I guess it's perfect timing for me that the live metal/punk experience is getting softer as I get softer/older.

The beer access seemed painless and cheep at migration to me. The sound was pretty decent in the beer balcony, compared to say, the Roseland. The low density at migration made it easy to leave the front zone, grab a drink without missing much music, head back to the front, etc.

I guess I am old and cranky but what you call 'lethargic' felt like people appreciating the music instead of just wanting to party hard. I loved the fact that people didn't try to yell drunken conversations over the bands at migration.

Yeah, I got no prob with an audience finding rapt attention with a performance, rather than some dancing during the fast parts.

I thought Thief™ presents Psycho Las Vegas 2016™ was the plushest and comfiest fest I've ever attended by far.

Plus, non-stop table gaming til 2:45 AM everynight was pretty great.

Ended up hitting the last two days of this. I went on a lark because it just worked out vacation-wise, but after this time I'm probably gonna make this a regular festival stop. Hot as shit down there, but you can still get a hell of a fest just sticking with the indoor air-conditioned venues. Seriously fuck the alcohol prices in The Joint. I only found out in the last hour of the fest that you could buy drinks in Vinyl and bring them in for half the The Joint's price. Live and learn.

Top five sets for me were King Diamond, Manilla Road, NEUROSIS, Warning, Cirith Ungol.

Bands saw:

Diamond Head
Myrkur
Ace Frehley
Gojira
NEUROSIS
King Diamond
Cirith Ungol
Cult of Luna with Julie Christmas
Manilla Road
SWANS
Mastodon
Floorian
Warning

Bummed to have missed C.O.C., but I had to get something to eat when they played. There was another set missed, but I can't recall, so I guess it didn't mean much to me. :)

My friend who attended the fest called it "Boy's Hedonist Weekend." I thought that was pretty hilarious and apt.

I really enjoyed this year, I watched bands nonstop Saturday and Sunday in the 2 inside venues. Last year I spent way more time gambling and socializing but this year I was still in recovery from my spine surgery so I was trying to Be careful - they reserved the tables in the small space for VIPs so that helped me out a lot.

We had so much fun outside Thursday in the cabana.

It's not boys party at all, women are well represented.
