Got my weekend pass for this in August instead.

Quite a bit cheaper (Oly vs. Vegas), cooler (temperature-wise) and mostly stuff I haven't seen a dozen times already. I'll probably discover more stuff at Migration, but no doubt that Vegas has a lot of seasoned, professional bands going for it.

I hope Arthur Brown plays some other shows in the US besides this one.

Colour Haze playing makes Psycho hard for me to think about not attending.

Seriously considering going to this. 4-5 Nanotear clients and a bunch of local Portland bands and familiars, Zombi, Converge!, I'd love to see CHRCH and INVDRS, been a while since I've seen Saviours, Hornss, Lo-Pan... and some fiya. I wonder how these shows are going to get tiered without much direct competition.

KWC in Olympia makes me wonder if they're touring to/from that show, so more possible good news for August.

But all the bands are irrelevant, couldn't pay me to go to psycho, couldn't afford me.

They basically doubled the number of bands playing with their second announcement and it was a pretty good fest to start with! Gonna have to weigh this out against the Migration Fest dealio before August rolls around. Vegas in August should be hella cheap, which would go a long ways to offsetting that $250 festival pass.

You know you're gonna go - you love Vegas, man.

There's two stages so the VIP ticket gets you on the balcony for the big stage, not sure what the dealio is with the second stage.

I thought I read there were 3 stages, but I don't remember where I saw that. I looked on the Hard Rock's website, and I can't tell. However, I did see this:

Aug 27, 2016
DJ Scott Ian of Anthrax
Center Bar
No Cover
Center Bar | 11:00 P.M. | 21+ with valid ID

That is a helluva lot of bands for only 2 stages. That would be roughly 15 bands per stage per day, which seems almost impossible.

I'm seriously thinking about going. I've seen most of the bands but the two I haven't seen whom are too awesome to pass up are Truth & Janey and Arthur Brown. I can't afford tickets and airfare and lodging so I need to work on finding a place to stay and snagging a really cheap flight.

Do it man, I haven't seen you since I went to your apartment a million years ago.

Gonna see how many West Coast tours come to fruition based upon this event. They're kind of going for broke trying to create an American version of Roadburn, which would be great, but I'm leaning toward waiting to see how this one goes down.

Yeah, 50 vans and 50 bands worth of gear showing up all at once on the Hard Rock loading dock in 110 F heat.

Plus... Alice Cooper's Guillotine!

Psycho CA stayed on time like clockwork for both stages, and was run professionally, that show was 1/4 the size of this and in an office park.

It was just announced that they were denied entry into the USA.

I'm surprised we didn't get at least a dozen tours hitting town feeding into this thing. They literally must be flying all the bands in and out of town, which seems massively expensive. Or maybe not, given all the regular flights that are empty going to Vegas in August.

Anyway, interested in hearing how this goes. It will be fun for all the attendees, but I'll be more interested in how many people plunk down for it or whether bands are playing in front of 100 people in that 3,000 capacity auditorium.

edit - Bummed to hear Doug Stanhope is having his 25th anniversary in comedy set/party just a few blocks away from the Hard Rock on Sunday. If I'd known this was happening back in the Spring, I would have gone down there for sure!

It's working out really well... actually, very few hangups (other than the line to see YOB). No one is bitching about Colour Haze that I have noticed; seriously, it's a non-issue from what I have seen. It's crazy how many people I know here- way more than any other show (including local shows!). Staying in the hotel is ridiculously convenient. Last night, I actually had a record-long day of shows... started at 2pm and ended at 7am, with no major breaks (30 minutes here and there). It's insane, and a ton of fun. My only complaints are: security can be a bitch (depending on the venue) and everyone smokes- even on the elevators.

Yeah, I've been following the numerous facebook updates. It looks like it totally rules. I'll need to keep this in mind next year.

The Housecore Horror Fest last November was the best festival I've hit since Emissions, but it's doubtful it'll continue being as big and diverse as it's been after the year Phil Anselmo has had since then. Also, Vegas is a lot easier and cheaper than anywhere in Texas.

Yeah, my instagram and FB is swamped with feeds from people I know who are there and are having an absolute ball. I can't say I'm not envious. That slate of bands is doubly impressive when its upon you and you aren't there haha. Vegas is a perfect fit for this festival.
I am going to go next year for sure.

Had a blast. Of the three stages Vinyl was the best. Killer set-up and great sound and great sightlines. Sound in the big room was incredible. Even on the third level balcony the sound was great.

So many great bands and it wasn't too hard to jump from venue to venue.

I'm with you Horns. Everything I've seen, read and heard about the event has been positive. I was weirdly jealous to see video of people taking a dip in the pool while Bongripper played. Ha!

It was so much fun but a 4 day festival is a test of one's endurance, to be sure.

I've been back for a week and Vegas is still ringing in my head. Amazing festival. Sucks that Colour Haze cancelled but it actually took away the Boris/Electric Wizard conflict for me.
