Found this rad article about the relations between the Dead and Led Zeppelin...

http://deadessays.blogspot.com/2012/05/ ... pelin.html

It's crazy that they've actually bumped heads at one point. They also mention Jerry Garcia was even a fan of the Butthole Surfers and even liked The Ramones! This actually makes me want to delve into the Dead's music even deeper.

I wonder if Jerry liked Sabbath. They did share a bill one day at the Hollywood Music Festival in 1970 with Traffic. There's also a part where Robert Plant mentions Black Sabbath's Paranoid.

Listening to them more, and Jerry's guitar solos were proper lol \m/

Really like the second one. What a heavy bass groove they're laying down behind him as well.

Jerry's fully articulated and inspired solos are always sublime. With my massive collection, i'm even listening and digging '89 shows now!!

Picky faux Dead Heads still bitching about octave doubling Phil's Bass Great parts during remastering/mixing on DaP24. Fuck that. I love it. Experimentation/Prankstermentation is part and parcel of the Good ol' Grateful Dead experience. Any sincere, old school fan should know and embrace that.

I always noticed a similarity between Jerry's solos and Buck Dharma's solos. They played similar styles to my tin ears.

A la carte DaP 25 sold out in 40 minutes. Last tour show of 1977. It should be a corker. Street date is 1/26.

DaP 25 is good, not great. Killer Half-Step, Duprees, T.Jed and TMNS in the first set. Second set has a nice St.Stephens>NFA>Drums>Wharf Rat with an EPIC and smokin' Truckin'. So starts off and finishes strong. The Betty Cantor feed off the soundboard mix is as sweet as you'd expect.

Can't imagine we'll see many more '77 shows in the near future. Bring on the '78-85 era shows!

Liberty, you should delve into the radio show "The Avant Ghetto" on WFMU. Its by deadhead Jeff Conklin and he puts a choice Dead set segment from a great recording into every show. Then he mixes it up with a lot of other stuff. He's an exceptional DJ, a big fan of Moby Grape. Here are the archives, but its on every Sunday night.

Early Bird 2019 subs now avail. Pens out to $7.69 per CD delivered to your door.

First show of 2019, #30 will be the Epic 2-26-77. A show highly coveted by tape traders back in the 90's. It was one of my faves too.
