Gonna venture a guess that DaP19 will be a comp. of the December 1970 "David & the Dorks" AKA Jerry Garcia & Friends shows. Official word will come prolly the first week of July.

It's one helluva time to be a Dead Head! : )

DaP22 12-7-71 NYC just announced avail. The return of the mighty PigPen for this run! Will prolly sell out early next week.

Nope. Sold out in less than 24 hours. Me thinks all Dave's Picks will be highly sought Deadhead collectibles in the coming years as they only press 16.5K each. Glad i have most of them.

Apologies if this has been mentioned in the forum already -
But is anyone else watching the "LONG STRANGE TRIP" Grateful Dead documentary series on the Amazon channel? Its fucking ACE.
I'm operating on a lot less sleep for the past week because i've been immersing myself in the series every night. Its such an informative and enjoyable archive of every era of the band.
Check it out. I'm gonna be bummed when I finish it.

Sold out in ~2 hours. My copy will land on my porch hopefully by Thr. Epic, epic '78 "Close Encounters Jam" show. Culled from recently returned Betty reels, so the sound quality will be never before heard crispy 'n pristine. This is one of those Historic and Hallowed GoGD shows hailed by traders. It is an amazing time to be a Deadhead.

^Awesome! Don't think any Deadhead worth their salt would argue that those aren't 2 of the best post-hiatus 70's shows ever.

Everyone is buzzing about the Eugene "Close Encounter Jam" show getting the Full Norman official release treatment! This set will be going for mad money on ebay in a couple months...

I preordered the new RFK '89 box set. On the fence about the '78 Betty boards box. The artwork looks killer but I don't know about Donna + Bobby's slide playing. I have a good amount already from that general era. In no way am I a completist. Still, that box looks amazing and I'm really surprised it's still available a year after the release date.

Awesome, brother! Sounds like you are fully on board now. It's a fun trip.
I'm a bit of a completist and i passed on the July '78 box too.
The somewhat over-rated 7-8-78 Red Rocks show is enough from that run for me.

Based on the flood of returned Betty Boards, the Dave's Picks series should be chok full of amazing and amazing sounding shows for the next 3-4 years. I'm def going to re-up my yearly sub for 2018 in December. Really looking forward to seeing what comes out. Music is the primary reason why i get out of bed now-a-days. Heh.

Happy listening.

Do DaP subscriptions typically go live on Nov. 1st every year?

Author:  libertycaps [ Sun Aug 06, 2017 12:42 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Grateful Dead primer (a newb's request for recommendatio

Nov. 1 is when the 4th set is released. Subs are usually live by mid December. There's an early bird special first 2 weeks for the past 3 years. Hopefully, there will be another for 2018. $99 for 13 CDs is a sick deal considering what after market prices people will pay for Dave's Picks.

Dave's 24 announcement should be a few days before Halloween. Speculation has it as an 80's show. We shall see.

I lied about the July '78 Box Set. Decided to pull the trigger after all. 7-8-78 is the weaker show.
I mean c'mon. The Good Old Grateful Dead and Summer 1978 Betty board quality recordings?!? What's not to love?
