When I hear "straight up kick ass rock", I think MC5- Bad Wizard-type stuff. So, in that vein, try White Dynomite:

I've been playing Graveyard a ton lately, great singer.

https://crobotband.bandcamp.com/album/s ... pernatural - the Earth Rocker producer did this one so it sounds huge. Singer is damn good. More hard rock side of of things.

Riffs for days, good singer.

I've heard these songs before when I wrote them over friends houses, didn't record them, but I see someone did and later others finished them. But not how I would have.

Graveyard was the first one I thought of two. So x2 on that recommendation. Hisingen Blues should be included in any list of classic albums, IMO.

The latest Radio Moscow album, Magical Dirt, seems to have fallen under the radar around here but I think its great. Had I discovered in earlier, it would have made my Top 5 from 2014.

Exactly. So some obvious choices might be Lo Pan, Five Horse Johnson, Gentleman's Pistols, Freedom Hawk, Drunk Horse, Roadsaw, Pride Tiger... Those are some of my "go-to's" when I'm making a straight up rock mix for someone.

I'm gonna highly recommend Ol' Time Moonshine. I've been playing it a lot lately.

Approaching from a different angle here....

I'll say the newest Slough Feg is a great listen. Rock on the offensive:

If you want punishment, the last American Heritage was probably their best:

At Devil Dirt are criminally under the radar, truly fat sound, with T. Rex vibes:

An older suggestion (well, 2008) would be Iron Giant, "Creator Of Scars" ...was just jamming to that today; good drum sound, good singing. And I'm assuming you've heard Roadsaw?

Newer suggestions would be: The new Valkyrie, "Shadows" ... The King Hitter EP (Karl from Leadfoot and the "Blind" COC album) ... The new Arrowhead, "Desert Cult Ritual" is pretty good. Palm Desert (from Poland) is really good. Start with "Adayoff" or "Rotten Village Sessions" ... and, believe it or not, Cowboys & Aliens released a decent new EP early this year, "Surrounded By Enemies". I liked their 1st two back in the day. The EP is more like their 2nd, "LoveSexVolume"

There's also this band, Clutch...

I'll second Clutch, Red Fang, Lo-Pan, along with Pepper era CoC.

Love Graveyard, but too many slow burners to qualify as "kick ass rock" from top to bottom.

Bad Guys (the most kick ass rock band you've never heard of)
Harvey Milk (The Pleaser album)
Mount Carmel
Sandrider
Obliterations
Golden Void
Kadavar
Lecherous Gaze
The Shrine

Not new, but Danava have been the best straight-up rock band here in Portland the last six-seven years running. That's even with them turning over half their lineup in the last year. I don't know if I'm a just a weirdo, but they are definitely different than your "straight up kick ass rock" band because they're playing a fest in Germany this Summer with all black metal bands and.... SWANS. Fucking weird. I'd love to be there!

Jammed bitchwax II today, now I think that's the best one, first one I bought so long ago. There's way more shit on it that's not on the others, and the fifteens filled it all in.
