The good bits are good, but a lot of it seems a bit soggy to me.
Love Standing on the verge (the song)

Surprised no one has mentioned The Melvins yet. Always thought this was a perfect album..

Stooges, yes. Bitchwax 2nd album, players club wine cooler blowout, seen them like 13 times here, hell a lot of bands, I'll tell all about them, as long as juan 11 don't come here asking for illegal financial advice and starts trolling mad when denied. And the other romper room idiots who reared their ugly heads and gave nada to the world.

ehh...if we're talking about pre-The Weirdness, then sure.

I'd generally agree with The Melvins too, but they have stuff that I just cannot listen to. The good outweighs the bad by a significant margin though.

THE Metallica. Sure, there are other Metallicas, but for this thread there is only one. I want to visit the parallel universe where Metallica continued on with Clif.

Maggot Brain "soggy"??? Fuck no!!! Completely disagree. That whole album is solid from beginning to end. This song is better than 'Standing on the Verge'..

Also thought of some more "perfect" bands...

UFO with Mick Bolton on guitar is "perfect",especially this album...

Mahavishnu Orchestra...

First post here. Guess this is a great way to introduce myself.
I would easily place Neurosis, Grails, Pink Floyd, Graveyard and His Hero Is Gone on a "perfect" list for entire discographies. There are individual albums that I feel are flawless by other artists.
IE: Witchcraft-The Alchemist, Black Sabbath-Masters of Reality, Neil Young-Harvest.

Neurosis is pretty close. They haven't really had a clunker, though some of their albums have less replay value for me.

The Melvins are also pretty close, Prick and Colossus Of Destiny not withstanding. However, those albums are both still pretty Melvins-esqe. As far as a band being true to their ideals, they are perfect conceptually. Not all their material has a high replay value, that's my only gripe.

I can get behind His Hero Is Gone. I'd say they are perfect. Most of the bands that I can truly think of as perfect broke up at a high point and only had a handful of albums under their belt.

Graveyard....eh, the last one doesn't do it for me. First two albums were really good though, and they were killer live.

Graveyard; Yep. Great live band. The newest album actually stumped me at first. I thought Lights Out was missing something. After a few listens it actually became my favorite of the three. Im really glad I revisited it. Going backwards is great to hear but that's where I realized the strength of the current songs. Of course, that's only my personal opinion. I've been along for the ride since the self titled.

Holy shit, how did I not think of this earlier. Really easy answer here:

FUGAZI

That's it for me, that's the perfect band. They did no wrong IMHO.

Fugazi: Yes! Again, I may enjoy The Argument more than the older discography. Good call on that one.

That's actually what made me think of this, a friend posted on Facebook that he was listening to The Argument. And I was like, "Man, no other band do I like their last album as much as their first one, and everything in between."

I really like how they managed to never make the same album over and over, always progressed, and yet always sounded like Fugazi. Plus they were shit hot live, and had really "pro-music pro-fan" politics. Perfect band in my book, for sure.

Agreed. I missed the live set though. The only time I actually knew of them playing close to me, I drove three hours to find the show sold out. Of coarse, this was before the Internet access days and we had just heard of the show that day. Man, road trips used to be risky like that! Haha!!
Edit: Brings to mind car issues and missing Kyuss and Danzig (on two separate dates). Tickets in hand. Still missed the sets.

I'm glad someone mentioned Fugazi. Flawless execution of their style of music in every respect.

I used to listen to Fugazi tons during the 00's. So I agree Fugazi kicks ass..

I also think The Who and AC/DC are perfect. Especially AC/DC,don't think I've ever heard a song of their's that was weak.

I have never heard Fugazi. I guess I should consider myself lucky? They're an emo band right?

I know I might be alone in my opinion here, but after hearing Snails new album (/humblebrag) I'll throw them in the mix. Haven't heard a bad album yet.

I never considered Fugazi emo, more indie-punk in my eyes. A lot of the early emo bands, I suppose, probably could/do cite Fugazi as an influence though.

I love Fugazi. They made up a HUGE part of my middle school and high school soundtrack. They remain one of the most important bands to me. That said, I purposely didn't include them in this thread because a) I have never been able to enjoy The Argument and B) less Guy Picciotta on vocals would have made them even better. All IMO.

Much like Neurosis, Fugazi don't do much for me. Eh. Oh, well.....
