I wanna hear about the other gigs on this tour.

Made a trip up to Baltimore with H.H. Word for the sold out Electric Wizard/Satan's Satyrs gig.

- Thought it ruled, beat the 2012 Deathfest gig in my opinion, in terms of the physical space, length of set, not being rained on/not exhausted/sunburnt from daydrinking, etc.
- Liz looks incredibly cool playing guitar.
- Projections were on point (going back to the DVD menu sort crashed my buzz back to reality for a second, but thats not really the worst)
- I was happy with the range of the setlist, "Return Trip" was what I needed, "Funeralopolis" and "Dopethrone" were way heavy and massive.
- Venue didn't seem to bust anyone for burning during the gig.
- They played with a looseness that was fitting for them, its part of the charm.
- TWO BAND show was a great way to do it, glad there wasn't any bullshit package stapled to this. Satan's Satyrs are in for a tight ride with their mentors on this tour.

I'm curious to hear some reports too. I wasn't able to catch them this time around, which is the first time I've missed an opportunity to see them in the States (I caught all the 2001-2002 tours and MDF 2012). Does the Wiz still cane??

I enjoyed it a lot. Don't have much to add to the high points breathingcave noted. It was cool to be in a big room full of really worked up freaks.

i was super into EW when I was stoned all the time.
Now that I'm not, this show (Philly 3/31) was still HEAVY AS FUCK.
Great setlist. Unfortunately we walked in and they were already playing Dopethrone (did they play anything prior?) then it was Return Trip, a new song (track 3 off the new one maybe?), Supercoven, Chosen Few, Funeralolopis. (Might have gotten the order wrong, but thats a damn good mix imo)
Small song count, but you gotta figure each song went 6-8 min +
When I say HEAVY, I fuckin mean it. The place was fuckin rumbling. I had earplugs in, was in the back of the house and my fuckin bones were shaking.
Jus wasn't exactly pleasant. No banter (which I guess some appreciate), faux-shooting the crowd ("I hope this fucking world fucking burns..."), and before exiting the stage, one last middle-finger followed by a 5 min+ bout of an encore-teasing feedback & light show. Big "awww" when the house lights came on.
Cool to finally see'em. Wish I was high...and drunker.

They're not really an "encore kinda band" right?

Caught the Boston show last night. Excellent time, sounded heavy as fuck, great set list.
Pretty much the same as mentioned above. Amazing crowd, people were groovin.

Got some pics, try and post them later on.

They're a lot better of a band than they were back then.

I know that Jus at least still canes, he smoked a shit ton of joints when we played with them in Austria....

Satan's Satyrs, liked them more live than what I had heard recorded. Good stuff, Blue Cheer meets Thin Lizzy if Phil Lynott was white.

Kinda pissed at myself for sleeping on getting tix. Memories of the Satyricon shows will have to suffice....

Tix are now going for $150. Jesus H! I am hoping this is a warm-up U.S. tour and they will be playing larger venues soon.

Based on the turn-out, they'll be back PDQ i reckon.

There is a PDX ticket up on Stubhub for $83 right now.

I'm still on the fence about going. I have a feeling that Once and Future Band (ex-Drunk Horse guys) that play the next night are going to smoke this.

$83 still too much. Esp. for that venue. My ears are very important to me.
Doug Fir? I'd think about it.

Saw them in Denver on Friday and...it. Was. Awesome.

Saw them on their last tour 14 years ago and this was how they were meant to be heard. With cool visuals too.

Some of the old riffs still have power, but I'm mostly bored as fuck-all. Tried selling my ticket to no avail. I guess I'm spoiled being in YOB's backyard and seeing SLEEP a two months ago. The reel of endless floppy English boobies is nice, but about the only thing I'll take away from this. Hitting the next bus in 15 minutes.

Satan's Satyrs were better than I thought they'd be judging from online clips I heard.

Stopped being excited about the live show a few years ago, the temples gig with Mark back on drums was entertaining for putting a bit of chaos back into things but was not the best thing I saw that weekend!
SS were ok but I was seriously suffering from rock saturation so felt a bit meh about them.

This tour seems like it could be a big expensive mediocrity.

Maybe I got lucky, but I thought they were up there with Sleep. Not quite as good, but not far off either.

Speaking of, going to see Sleep this Sunday. Part of their 4/20 gigs. They go on at midnight 4/20 here in Denver, then fly to Seattle to play that night.

Nice, should see Sleep next week at Desertfest.
My grump about EWiz should be taken with a pinch of salt, I'm nearly as much of a miserable fucker as Jus.

It's not hard to find things to criticize about Electric Wizard. To me their shortcomings are part of their messed-up charm but I can't expect everyone to see it that way.

One of the most enjoyable parts of the show I saw in Baltimore was there were freaks there from all around Maryland, Virginia and DC. I couldn't walk three feet without running into someone I knew from seeing heavy shows in the region for the last decade or two. It was a fun occasion.

The malaise of the last 2 albums has gotta be something of a litmus test for the gigs.
Jus didn't give a fuck in 2000. Tension served the music well back then.

The one time I saw them was at The Balcony back in Philly on the famous baggy pants tour. It was such a miserable experience I will never give them another chance.

I saw the Balcony show too, and it was weak. The show around that time (before? after? Can't remember) where they played The Khyber with Warhorse opening was good, though, more so because of Warhorse, who were absolutely fucking destructively heavy.

I'm happy to hear that they were underwhelming on this tour as I was kicking myself for not getting a ticket to the Philly show, but no longer.
