back to the topic at hand...
I think the main reason I was drawn to this site was all the information JJ provides on the home page. I find I don’t have to work as hard to seek out new music, he is always on top of it. 75% of the time when I do discover something that i think is totally new, I type the band name in on the home page search feature and inevitably JJ talked about them months before. I do wish the music talk was a bit more prolific, I guess I am guilty of that too, I can post more… I do miss some of the folks who don’t post here anymore though, there were some very good/strong writers who opened my eyes to quite a few good/new bands. when the old site went down i just found this one first. i lurked there for years and i lurk, mostly, here. I don't think the scene/music is dead, the bands I dig are becoming further between, but I still find out about some pretty great music.

Yeah, JJ gives so much time to write reviews and whatnot on so many bands, it's crazy (but, awesome). Plus, he's a good writer. The old sr didn't have anything like that, and SRL isn't even close. I'm always impressed with JJ's depth of knowledge for this type of music.

Yeah, to me this forum has always been a supplement to JJ's blog. It wasn't supposed to "take-over" or replace the sr.com forum. I think the quality work he puts into his site and writing deserves something better than that, with all the flames and trolls that come with moderating an active forum full of angry, anonymous people. The SRL forum can carry the mantle with having the activity of sr.com. I have no problem with it. It seemed like to me the sweet spot of hilarity of sr.com (mix of cool, knowledgeable scene people and genuine trolls/dumb-asses) was 2006 or so. After then, most of the focus was on Justin and people poking him, which got old as hell. I think Dan Beland feared being called a Nazi more than anything else which is why he never took charge of that situation. I met RAGER at Hoverfest last Summer and he asked me why I never post on SRL and I told him "because I'm 45 years old". If you look at this forum, we all can feel pretty good about it being a supplement to a Stoner Rock blog and not outright disrespecting JJ's services he is providing us, even as the post count dwindles.

I read JJ's blog via his face book everyday. I think HoRns has to stay on Perma block to honor ChovieD's memory so we don't get haunted. I will try to be more professional. You fucking uptight boring assholes.

Ditto the kudos for JJ, his blog is definitive. Just like the remark above says, you can search a new band name and JJ has probably told us about it months ago. Good work. Speaking of the old days, I saw good ol' Witch Mountain last night, they were really strong. Robwrong was wailing and the new singer has an up-front feral charisma and scads of vocal range. They seemed very happy about this current phase of the group and were all smiles after the show. For me one reason to keep following bands I've known over long periods of time (15 years in the case of W.M.) is observing the motion that occurs and reveling in it when it's at a crest- that's the gratifying payoff.

Posting obsessively on MBs (or any "social media") is a sign of arrested development and/or just not knowing any better. Being stuck on my ass for a week put my foot right back in it. Glad i'm feeling better and kinda happy to be back to my normal 40hr week work routine. And KUDOS to JJ for his killer BLOG and passion & dedication to the new Heavy bands. JJ's thoroughness seems to make forum band discussion kinda redundant.

Pretty much the same in that regard. I went to a few shows last year, and one fest. Same plans for this year. Glad to hear that you're keeping on keeping on man, and that things are alright. The new PIT album comes out on 4/21. I'm hoping to get the finalized artwork tomorrow....cutting it a bit close as usual.

We've already done three this year, and that's more than we did for the entirety of 2014. If things keep going well, and we're still having fun and not feeling burned out, we'll do some out of town shows....
