The new Ufomammut album is being released on March 31. I'm excited to hear this and even more excited to see them play in Philly in May. Anyway, it's available to order directly from the band or from Neurot Records. Snatch it up fellas.

Woo!

Going to see them in an absurdly large venue in April. I guess it's probably actually not as big as Roadburn main stage, but having seen them in the Croft in the UK previously (80 people?) it's going to feel big.

Lovely design as ever.

Yeah a new album and a US tour. A good year indeed. The LA show was fucking cheap as hell too.

Just received my Elder CD in the mail. Now I learn this is available for pre-order and a release date is set. Not a bad day at all.

I ordered one of the deluxe versions, saw some pics online of them laying out the covers featuring a Malleus screen print, easily worth an extra $15 in this case I reckon.

I bought a clear as well. All of Ufomammut's vinyl releases are top notch.

Album has leaked.

Sounds good so far but the shitty sound quality of this rip is disguising its potential.

Let me guess...

So heavy it falls through the elastic fabric of space time, opening portals to nightmarish dimensions beyond our ability to comprehend.

That about right?

Yeah, about my experience.

Except at the end I DID comprehend them and now I'm not sure what to expect.

Going to see them in a week, not sure whether to listen to the album first or not. I guess they may well play it through as that seems to be their style, in which case it's deciding whether it's better to be familiar with the material, or hear it first in the full trance experience.

Yeah, this is not very good. The riffs are generic and uninspired, the songwriting is disjointed, and every time they do something that is actually pretty cool and interesting, they quickly change to something mundane and boring.

It's like they shot their load with Eve, they haven't done anything that has come even close to measuring up to that or Snailking. Hell, even Idolum is leaps and bounds ahead of Ecate.

The effects and tones are cool, they just need to do something creative, fresh, and inspired sounding with all that wonderful noise. The last song on the album is a good indicator of what they could potentially do with more thoughtful songwriting and riff-making. As for the rest, this is really subpar for them, and a big disappointment.

I disagree with just about everything you typed there regarding Ectate

It's good. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little underwhelmed. Maybe it's my own hype or maybe it's the extremely great previous albums that I was expecting too much. Admittedly, I've only given it one honest listen so maybe another dip in the pool will change my tune.

I only heard the first song they released and I was ambivalent about it. Could be because the album's not up to par (at this point, they've earned a mulligan), could be that I'm expected "Eve" part 2.

Hey, that's your prerogative man. I'm not asking you to agree with me, just expressing my experience of the album, which is obviously not a very positive one. That's okay, I can listen to Snailking, Eve, or Idolum anytime I'd like to, and sell this one back once I take a few more listens to be sure that it's not really redeeming to me.

I recommend seeing this Ufomammut live if you can. I like the new album a lot more after seeing them play it live.

Yeah holy fucking pasta - parts of their show are otherworldly.

I loved it. See them for sure.

Yeah man! I saw them at the Croft [twice? Maybe, I was smoking a lot then..] massive, massive sound in such a tiny space.

Absolutely deliver a studio-ish style live with the soulful feel of a live performance as well.
A must-see if they are near you.
You won't be disappointed.

Yes, South West crew! I missed one of the croft gigs cos I was on honeymoon but saw them supported by Big Naturals, the Heads light show amplified the space cake I'd eaten to absurdity and my legs melted out from under me.

Going to Conan next week?
