Considering the circumstances, it's more than impressive. Karl and his music are an inspiration.

Hah, I was there.
Unfortunately, they played before Elder, and I couldn't pay much attention because I was so psyched for Elder. At a normal 3 or 4 band gig, I would have been more into them. But, this was a 4 day festival.

Not a very well attended fest, I guess. Awful lot of space in front of that stage. Too bad. I wish I'd been there.

It's because we live in America. We don't support anything.

While I mostly agree with that statement, the real reason there was little/no turnout is due to the lack of promotion. No one even knew the fest was happening.

I just got back from Wretch's live debut in Indy. It was great. Don't expect TGOS pt. 2. There are obviously some similarities. The connective tissue between the two bands would be those creepy Dave Chandler riffs that Karl seems to like so much. Outside those riffs, Wretch mostly reminds me of all those early proto-metal bands. Stuff like Atomic Rooster and Iron Claw. There are also of course some very traditional upbeat Sabbath passages that can only bring a smile to your face. Many of the songs feature extended guitar solos. I'm not literate enough in the drums and bass to really articulate what Chris (drums) and Bryce (bass) bring to the table, but it is very bluesy and beyond competent. Wretch is a beast of its own. Kudos to the guys for a great show.

On a side note, maybe in the future they'll give a nod to Suffer No Guilt and play a song from that one, as Wretch features two thirds of that TGOS lineup. Hearing Riders of Doom, Angel of Death or Dweller In the Deep would be awesome.
