Well, I'm finally getting to go to a European festival and I'm pretty psyched. And today they just added Colour Haze to the line up. If they just added Ufomammut my life would be complete.

Anyone else going? Any advice for someone who's never been to Europe before?

Don't act American.

Great, Ron. I'll think of you every time I'm about to act American. :)

That's pretty much it.

Drink beer, listen to some heavy music.
Put tobacco in your joint.

Jealous. A lot.

First trip to Europe - the food will be incredible, no matter where you eat.

I was going to say just be yourself. No need to act at all or to be shy that you're an American. People will find out pretty darn fast once you start talking to them, and it will just be a topic of conversation. Also, don't feel the need to put tobacco in your joint if you don't want to (IF you smoke herb). No one gives a fuck, in my experience, and if they do they're probably a prick. It would make you stick out though, so if you mind that...

If you have a free day, take a trip to Ghent. Antwerp is a fairly cheap train ride away from one of my favorite cities in Europe. You can see so much beautiful shit in such a small area. Definitely doable in a day and so worthwhile. I haven't done much in Antwerp other than see shows, so no tips there...

Don't waste your money on bottled water; the tap water is great. And obviously the ales are as well, if you're into the drinking. But be careful with those! ;) Should probably try some chocolate while you are there.

Enjoy the fest! Lots of badass bands!

Watch The Bevis Frond for me please. Haven't seen them in the US since 2000...

And yeah, the 'acting American' thing was a non-issue for me on my solo trip over for two weeks in 2013. I met some extrememly friendly folks in France that I partied with in London the following weekend, they were so considerate that the started speaking English, even to one another, when I was present. Another Frenchwoman I met at the Cough show in Paris I still keep in touch with via Facebook and very much hope to run into again on a future trip. In my experience the music is the central binding thing that us freaks have in common, just like in the U.S.

If you come across some really high potent weed like Lemon Haze I recommend putting tobacco in your joint cuz that stuff hits really hard... :)
